Inaugural awards recognise the banking and personal finance brands displaying the best innovations in their field.

Personal finance comparison site finder.com has today announced the winners of its first Banking Innovation Awards.

The awards identify the most innovative providers across the areas of digital banking, business banking, high street current accounts, personal finance apps and kids’ spending apps.

The shortlist of finalists in each category was selected by Finder’s subject area specialists, who identified the providers they felt were exhibiting key innovations in their field.

An expert judging panel then decided the winning and highly commended companies by assessing the shortlisted finalists across three different criteria: uniqueness of innovation, impact in the market and value to customers.

Eleven winning and highly commended companies have been announced in the following five categories:

High Street Bank Innovation
Winner: Lloyds
Highly commended: NatWest

Digital Banking Innovation
Winner: Monzo
Highly commended: Starling

Business Banking Innovation
Winner: Starling
Highly commended: ANNA Money / Tide

Personal Finance App Innovation
Winner: Yolt
Highly commended: Emma

Kids’ Spending App Innovation

Highly commended: gohenry

Commenting on the awards, Jon Ostler, CEO at finder.com, said: “Whether it’s business banking or kids’ spending apps, the banking space has seen a great deal of innovation recently. This year, more than ever, it’s important that UK customers feel in control of their finances and have access to the latest tools and services to help manage their money. We strive to highlight financial providers who are at the forefront of customer innovation, and I’d like to congratulate all of our winners and shortlisted finalists.”
