Approval for any credit card will depend on your status. The representative APRs shown represent the interest rate offered to most successful applicants. Depending on your personal circumstances the APR you're offered may be higher, or you may not be offered credit at all. Fees and rates are subject to change without notice. It's always wise to check the terms of any deal before you borrow.
Although it has strong northern roots, Asda is today part of the American Wal-Mart group, and has grown into the UK’s second-biggest supermarket chain.

As the third-largest supermarket group in the UK, Asda is a familiar name. Its stores are visited by tens of millions of shoppers every week, but Asda is less well-known for its popular range of credit cards that come with cashback rewards when used in-store.
How do Asda credit cards work?
Asda’s new credit card is provided by Jaja Finance, a UK based credit card provider regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). The cards are issued on the Visa network, meaning they can be accepted in over 200 countries and territories worldwide.
Asda’s straightforward credit card is rewards-focused, but take note that Asda’s version of “cashback” is called “Asda Pounds”, which is a little misleading as the rewards are actually paid in the form of vouchers to be spent in Asda stores.
As you’d expect, the earn-rate on Asda Money’s credit card is better when you’re using your card in-store, but you can still earn when you use your card elsewhere.
Is the cashback worth it?
Whether or not an Asda credit card is right for you is likely to come down to how you would use the card. You’ll want to weigh up the potential costs (like interest on an outstanding balance) with the amount you could earn in cashback.
What types of credit card are available from Asda Money?
Asda Money has reduced its range of credit card products and now just offers the one type for its customers.
You can do a quick eligibility check for the Asda Money Credit Card without affecting your credit score, so you’ll know in advance whether or not it’s worth applying. You can get an instant decision on an application for Asda Money’s credit card, all of which reward you while you spend (especially if you spend at Asda, unsurprisingly).
Rewards cards
Asda’s reward credit card gives you “Asda Pounds” back on all your spending, and you earn this at a higher rate for purchases at Asda stores than any made elsewhere.
Other benefits of Asda credit cards
- Award-winning products Asda Money’s previous credit cards were recognised as one of the best on offer by the annual Payments Awards, which recognise excellence and innovation in the sector.
- Online account management. You can set up an account to manage your card online.
- Enhanced benefits. You can earn Asda Pounds when you use your Asda Money Credit Card to buy Asda travel insurance.
- No annual fee. You won’t be charged an annual fee for Asda Money’s credit card.
Applying for an Asda credit card
You can apply for an Asda credit card online or by phone. Asda’s site allows would-be applicants to request a ‘soft search’ to find out their likelihood of being accepted for their chosen card, without affecting their credit score.
Eligibility
To be considered for an Asda credit card, you’ll need to meet the following eligibility criteria:
- UK resident.
- Over 18.
- You must provide a mobile or home telephone number.
- You must hold a good credit rating without a history of County Court Judgment or bankruptcy.
- You must hold a UK-based bank or building society account.
- You must ensure that you can meet the repayments as missed payments incur a charge and could have severe consequences on your ability to obtain future credit.
The good news is that Asda states “Students or retired applicants are welcome”.
Why might you not be approved?
Generally, if you meet the eligibility requirements, but have a history of bad debt, including CCJs, IVAs or bankruptcies, your application may be rejected.
