Can I travel from South Africa to Singapore?

Singapore’s border remains closed to travellers from South Africa. Currently, the border is only open to South African travellers who are citizens or residents of Singapore. Flights from South Africa to Singapore are sparse and subject to change. Singapore aims to open its borders to quarantine-free travel for fully vaccinated South African travellers by September 2021.

As of 26 August 2021, South African travellers can enter Singapore quarantine-free if they have been in Hong Kong or Macau for 21 consecutive days — they must get tested on arrival and isolate until a negative test is returned.

From 8 September 2021, fully-vaccinated South African travellers entering Singapore from Germany and Brunei, and have been there for at least 21 days, can apply for a Vaccinated Travel Pass to avoid quarantine — these travellers must still take multiple COVID-19 tests, before flying, on arrival and afterwards.

  • For Singapore citizens, permanent residents and long-term pass holders
  • For foreigner visitors (including In-Principle (IPA) Holders)
The permit requires all South African visitors travelling to Singapore to submit their health declaration through the SG Arrival Card.

Do I need proof I've had a negative test before departing for Singapore?

All people from South Africa who hold an Air Travel Pass must undergo a COVID-19 test upon arrival in Singapore.

Every traveller arriving into Singapore from South Africa must submit a negative COVID-19 PCR test within 72 hours of travel – the only exceptions are Singaporean citizens and permanent residents from the UK and a handful of other countries.
