Paris insider tips
Charles de Gaulle Airport (CDG) is about 16 miles northeast of the city and serves as the main international airport in Paris. You can also fly into Orly Airport (ORY) and Paris Beauvais (BVA).
Use more than one online flight search engine to expand your search for flight deals to Paris. Tools like Hopper and Kayak let you sign up for alerts when the route price changes.
Most airlines will fly into one airport and out of another, which is common for a trip to Europe. Planning a stopover in Amsterdam can help cut costs, while a leg in or out of London tends to be more expensive.
Security is very strict in Paris, so allow yourself extra time at the airport. The same applies for sightseeing around major attractions.
How to reach Paris from each airport
A taxi or hired car is the priciest, while public transportation won’t cost much.
Charles de Gaulle (CDG)
The RER train line is the cheapest and most reliable transport method. Ride the CDGVAL light rail to the train station, which takes around 20 minutes.
Or hop on the Roissybus, which runs nonstop to the Paris Opera area in about 90 minutes.
Air France provides shuttle buses to nearby metro stations, Montparnasse and Gare de Lyon.
Orly (ORY)
The Orlybus departs from Paris Orly and stops in Montparnasse. Air France also runs shuttles to Les Invalides and Montparnasse.
The cheapest option is to take the OrlyVal monorail to the RER train station. From there, the train to Paris takes 35 minutes.
Paris Beauvais (BVA)
As a smaller airport located about 60 miles north of Paris, Paris Beauvais experiences less traffic overall. Shuttles to the city take about 75 minutes and cost €15 (about $17).
Alternatively, you can reserve private shuttle service in advance or take a taxi from outside any of the three airports. Taxi fares directly to the city center are flat rates, though these can spike by as much as €10 during peak hours.

Car rentals are available at both Charles de Gaulle and Orly Airport. You can also book ahead online — recommended during peak periods. Book a rental car with:
Trains and shuttles are your best bet at scoring cheap transport from the airport to the heart of Paris. After securing your passage, book a room with a balcony or a view of the Eiffel tower — champagne not included.
