Best savings platforms in the UK 2026

Discover the benefits of using a savings platform to manage your money.

The average UK saver has £19,214 put away, according to Finder stats.

But keeping your savings rate competitive means regularly checking accounts and switching when a better deal comes along. Because this can be a hassle, it’s easy to put off.

The good news is that savings platforms can take some of the legwork out of finding and opening competitive savings accounts.

Manage multiple savings accounts in one place

One of the biggest benefits of using a savings platform is that you can manage multiple savings accounts in one place with one login.

You’ll need to sign up to your chosen platform, then transfer some money into a “holding account”.

You can hold several different savings accounts within the one platform, making it easy to monitor how each account is doing. If a more competitive account comes along, simply use the platform to transfer your money across in a few clicks.

There’s no need to sign up again or more ID checks. But do make sure that your account has no withdrawal restrictions first.

Savings platforms offer savings account variety

Savings platforms typically offer a wide variety of savings accounts, including easy access and notice accounts, as well as fixed rate bonds. That means you can decide how much access you need to your money.

Some platforms also offer tax-free cash ISAs. Meteor Savings, for example, allows you to mix and match different savings accounts with different providers under a single cash ISA wrapper, making it much easier to manage your savings in one place.

Savings platforms offer additional incentives and exclusive rates

Saving platforms work with selected partner banks, so you won’t find every savings account on the market. But this also means savings platforms can offer additional incentives or exclusive rates you won’t find elsewhere.

With Meteor Savings Boosts, for instance, customers can earn extra interest on selected accounts.

Easy to transfer your cash ISAs

Managing cash ISAs and remembering how much you’ve paid into each account can be a pain.

But platforms like Meteor Savings and Flagstone allow you to transfer existing cash ISAs from other providers onto the platform, so that everything is together. The transfer is handled for you so your money remains tax-free and the transfer doesn’t use up your ISA allowance.

You can also switch between products within the same ISA as terms end or better rates become available.

ISA pre orders

An ISA pre order allows you to set up a savings account or reserve an account before money is actually deposited. Savings platforms typically offer this feature in two main scenarios. Meteor Savings allows you to reserve a product for 15 days while the ISA transfer completes, so you don’t miss out on the rate while you wait for the transfer to go through.

Before a new tax year begins on 6 April, you can pre order an ISA by scheduling a deposit in advance. The platform processes your payment on or shortly after 6 April, ensuring you use your fresh tax free allowance immediately without any delay.

Additionally, when transferring funds from another provider, a pre order lets you lock in an attractive interest rate for a set window while the transfer completes. This can help you do not miss out on a top rate while waiting for cash to arrive.

No platform fees

Many savings platforms, don’t charge a fee for using the service. Instead, many get a commission from their partner banks. However, a few will deduct a small percentage of the interest from their partner banks before showing you the rates. Meteor Savings doesn’t charge platform fees and doesn’t take any of the interest, so the advertised rate is the rate the customer gets.

FSCS protection

When you use a savings platform, your money is usually deposited with a bank or building society. This means your deposits will be protected up to £120,000 per person, per banking group, through the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS).

However, it’s important to keep in mind that some banks belong to the same banking group, so the £120,000 limit applies to your combined savings across this group. For example, RBS and NatWest share a banking licence, which means savings held with both count towards the same £120,000 limit. If you’ve exceeded this amount, it’s worth moving some of your money elsewhere.

Frequently asked questions

Is my money safe if a partner bank fails?

Usually, yes. If your money is held with a partner bank or building society with FSCS protection, your funds will be covered up to £120,000 per person, per banking group.

What happens if the platform itself goes bankrupt?

You shouldn’t lose your money if the platform itself goes bankrupt as your money will usually be held with your chosen bank or building society which will have FSCS protection. This also applies to money held in the holding account.

However, it’s important to read through the platform’s terms and conditions to ensure you understand what would happen in this scenario.

How do withdrawals work?

To make a withdrawal from an account, you’ll need to transfer the money back into your holding account and then into your linked bank account.

If you have an easy access account, you can usually make withdrawals whenever you want. But if you have a notice account, you will need to give the required notice first. With fixed rate bonds, you usually can’t access your money until the account matures, unless you pay a penalty.

Can I open joint accounts or cash ISAs on a savings platform?

With the exception of Flagstone, most savings platforms don’t offer joint accounts. You won’t be able to open a joint cash ISA with any platform as these are individual accounts.

Are there minimum deposit thresholds?

Some savings platforms will ask you to transfer a minimum amount into the holding account. Meteor Savings, for example, asks for £500. But there will also be minimum deposit requirements for the savings accounts you choose – this could be anywhere between £1 and £5,000.

Are Sharia-compliant savings options available?

Yes, many savings platforms, including Meteor Savings, Flagstone and Raisin, offer Sharia-compliant accounts.
