Book now, pay later hotel reservations can be super handy when you spot a great deal but need a little extra time to come up with the money.

  • Most hotels in the US will let you reserve a room without entering a credit card, deferring payment until arrival. If that’s the arrangement you’re looking for, go to the hotel’s website, enter your travel dates and see if there’s an option to pay at check in.

If you need a hotel that’ll let you pay later instead of upfront, start with these brands. Just keep in mind that interest and penalty fees may apply — always read the fine print before booking, to ensure you know exactly what you’re agreeing to.



Book an all-included, 5-star resort stay with Sandals, and pay the total over the course of three to 24 months. You’ll pay a deposit upfront, and your credit or debit card will automatically be charged every 30 days. The balance must be paid at least 45 days before you arrive.

    These hotel booking sites make it easier to book now pay later hotels by offering handy filters to streamline your search.

    • Good to know: Many of these sites allow you to fund your hotel stay using Affirm, an online lender that gives out short-term loans for online purchases. Before signing up to use Affirm, consider reading our review, which breaks down the fees and things to watch out for.

    1. Expedia

    After selecting the rooms you’d like to book, click Monthly Payments at checkout to pay monthly installments through Affirm. Choose between paying the balance in full over three, six or 12 months. You can typically only use Affirm for nonrefundable bookings.

    2. Orbitz

    When you book a hotel room with a free cancellation policy, you’ll enter your credit card details but won’t be charged until check-in. Keep in mind that these rooms might be more expensive overall than nonrefundable reservations.

    With most reservations on, you can choose to pay upon check-in rather than online. Eligible properties display a note that says No prepayment needed. We also love that there aren’t any booking fees.



      When you find a room and click Let’s book, gives you the option to pay online or pay at the hotel. Generally, the prices are the same — though you won’t be able to redeem any Rewards if you choose to pay at the property.


        5. Priceline

        Choose a Pay Later room to postpone payment until you check in at the hotel. With Priceline, you can also choose to filter by Free Cancellation in case your travel plans are liable to change.


        6. Agoda

        Agoda usually lets you book without even a credit card — look for hotels with Pay $0 Today in the description. You can also filter your search by pay later hotels, to ensure that you’re not tempted by properties that require immediate funds.


        7. STA Travel

        It has a $50 accommodation deposit for eligible bookings that secures your price for up to eight weeks — without any interest. To take advantage of this program, you’ll have to call an STA Travel representative.


          8. OneTravel

          Book your hotel with OneTravel, but don’t pay until you check in. Choose a room that comes with a flexible cancellation policy to avoid fees if you need to tweak or cancel your trip later on.

            To avoid extra fees, your best bet is to book a hotel room that won’t charge you until the day you arrive. This type of reservation typically comes with a flexible cancellation policy, and in some cases might be a bit pricier than a nonrefundable rate, but might be a good choice if your plans are subject to change.
