Questor Insurance was founded in 2007 and is a trading name of Riverside Underwriting Limited. It specialises in excess insurance for hire cars and other vehicles, as well as travel insurance.

What are my cover options?

Single trip car hire excess cover

This covers you for a single rental agreement up to 180 days.

Annual car hire excess cover

You’ll be covered for unlimited car rentals in a 1-year period, for a max of 31 days per rental.

Collision damage waiver cover

This is included as part of your excess insurance and protects you from any damage costs if you’re involved in an accident or collision up to £6,000. You can also choose to extend the cover up to £75,000.

What is my excess?

The excess is the amount you have to pay if your hire car is damaged, stolen or otherwise affected during your rental period. This amount will generally be anywhere from £500 to £3,000, but will be covered if you take out car hire excess insurance.


There are a number of exclusions that apply to Questor car hire excess insurance, including:

  • Improper or unauthorised use of the vehicle, as detailed in the rental agreement
  • Cover for a car rental period that has already commenced
  • Claims for third party death, injury or property

How do I make a claim?

In order to make a claim, you will need to contact Orchard Administration Limited via its website or by calling 0333 323 0090 or +(0)1634 382 574. You will need to claim within 31 days of the incident occurring.
