Who is Tesco Bank?

Tesco Bank was founded in 1997 and was originally named Tesco Personal Finance. It came about as a joint venture between Tesco plc and the Royal Bank of Scotland plc. But, in 2008 Tesco bought out the Royal Bank of Scotland and introduced the new name: Tesco Bank. Tesco Bank is now wholly owned by Tesco plc.

Tesco Bank offers a range of retail banking and insurance products, aiming to meet the needs of Tesco customers.

What are Tesco Bank’s cover options?

Tesco Bank offered single-trip and annual multi-trip cover plus a range of optional extras.

For Single-Trip cover, Tesco Bank offered three levels of cover, from Everyday Value cover (being the most basic level) and Standard cover to Finest cover (the highest level of cover). The limits and excesses for each level vary as do the benefits.

  • Choice of Everyday Value, Standard or Finest cover
  • 24/7 helpline
  • Up to £10 million emergency medical expenses cover
  • Cover for loss, damage and theft of personal belongings, money and documents (included only in Standard and Finest cover)
Tesco Bank’s Annual Multi Trip Cover

Features of this policy include:

  • 24/7 helpline
  • Cover for an unlimited number of trips of up to 31 days over a 12 month period
  • If you are 64 or under, you can extend the trip length to 45 or 60 days for an additional premium
  • Cover for loss, damage and theft of personal belongings, money and documents (included only in Standard and Finest cover)
Tesco Bank’s Optional Extras

These include:

  • Optional winter sports cover
  • Optional personal belongings cover for Everyday Value only

What is my excess?

An excess is the amount of money you contribute to each claim you make before Tesco Bank Travel Insurance pay out.

The amount of your excess will depend on the level of cover you have and the nature of your claim. Make sure to check your policy schedule where your excess details will be shown in detail.

If you have purchased a Standard cover or Finest cover, you will be given the option to double the excess amount and receive a reduced premium as a result.

However, if you have purchased the Everyday Value cover, this option will not be available.

What is the claims process for Tesco Bank Travel Insurance?

If you need to make a claim, Tesco Bank have a claims helpline that’s open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. You can call 03456777555 to make your claim, but make sure you have your policy details available.
