Our verdict
If you and your family travel a lot and you already hold a Barclays current account, the Travel Pack Plus add-on is certainly worth a look.
It’s crammed full of features aimed at keen travellers, from worldwide family travel insurance and breakdown cover, to a concierge service, airport lounge access and discounts on hotels and airport parking.
But while these perks might be appealing, the monthly fee of £26 (from April 2026) - or £312 a year - is less so. In fact, this fee is higher than you’ll pay with many other providers that offer similar benefits with their packaged bank accounts.
Admittedly, not all competitors offer a concierge service or airport lounge access as part of the deal, but it’s important to consider whether you’ll realistically use these perks to make the Barclays fee worth paying.
It’s also sensible to check whether you already have access to these perks through any other existing accounts - or whether it’s cheaper to buy certain benefits separately.
Pros
-
Easy to add to your existing Barclays current account
-
Includes a wide range of travel benefits for you and your family
-
Can be added to most Barclays current accounts
-
Accounts are FSCS protected
Cons
-
Monthly fee is high
-
You must sign up for at least 6 months
-
You might not make use of all the benefits on offer and it could be cheaper to pay for them separately
