Tesco Travel Money

Supermarket giant Tesco launched Tesco Bank as a joint venture with Royal Bank of Scotland back in 1997. It became 100% owned by Tesco in 2008, before Barclays acquired the bank’s retail banking business (credit cards, loans and savings) in November 2024 – although the Tesco Bank brand continues to be used.
Alongside this, you can buy and sell travel money with Tesco too. Read on to find out whether it’s the right provider for your travel money needs.

For your security as well as Tesco’s, there are some limits on how much travel money you can order and collect.
If you are collecting from a Tesco bureau, you can order between £75 and £2,500. For home delivery orders, the limit is between £100 and £2,500.
If you are ordering a Travel Money card, you must load at least £50 onto it and your balance cannot exceed £5,000. The maximum you can load onto your card within a 12-month period is £30,000.
Tesco will email you a travel money order confirmation, and will confirm your exact delivery date. The table below shows the earliest time your money can be delivered to your home.

Instore collections can be quicker, with Euros and US dollars orders often being available the next day.
If you want a Tesco Travel Money card, this can be delivered to your home in around 2-3 days or you can often pick one up in store.
Tesco Travel Money uses the same delivery service as Travelex, so it knows what it’s doing. If, however, there is a problem with your order you can contact Tesco directly and it will deal with your issue.
If you order travel money of £500 or more online, home delivery is free. For online orders less than £500, you pay £2.95 for delivery.
Click and collect orders are free.
If you order a Travel Money card, fees apply for cash withdrawals abroad, as well as for topping up your card in pounds sterling (2%). There’s a 5.75% foreign exchange fee if your convert currencies and a £2 per month inactivity fee if you don’t use your card for 12 months.
