A Turkey eSIM lets you connect directly to one of the country’s 3 main mobile operators – Turkcell, Vodafone or Türk Telekom – so that you avoid costly roaming charges. But with several options to choose from, it’s not always easy to know where to start.
Here, we run through the best eSIMs for travel to Turkey, including Revolut’s offering that comes with a £20 bonus for signing up.
You can buy an eSIM from a range of different providers, either online or through their app, but make sure you’ve checked your mobile device is compatible first.
As these providers offer several different data plans, you’ll need to carefully consider how much data you’re likely to use while you’re in Turkey, and then select the most appropriate option.
This is particularly important at the moment as depending on your provider, you may not be able to top it up or buy a new eSIM while you’re out there. Since 10 July 2025, Turkey’s telecom regulator (BTK) has blocked access to the websites and apps of several major international eSIM providers, including Holafly, Nomad, Saily and Airalo.
This means that while the eSIM technology itself isn’t banned, you will need to purchase and activate your eSIM before you arrive in Turkey – otherwise you may not be able to use it.

Think of Revolut as your financial sidekick for international trips. As well as offering fee-free spending abroad using your Revolut card, the app offers eSIM plans for Turkey. You can choose from data plans ranging from 1GB for 7 days to 100GB for 60 days, suiting both shorter and longer trips.
Revolut eSIMs use the 1GLOBAL network in Turkey.
You can buy all plans in the app and track your usage as you go, as well as use your existing RevPoints balance to redeem against your data plan. What’s more, if you’re a new Revolut customer, you’ll get a £20 welcome bonus.
Holafly offers unlimited data eSIM plans for more than 160 countries, including Turkey. You simply state your destination and how long you’re travelling for, and then select your plan. If you’re travelling for more than 30 days, it’ll be cheaper to select a monthly plan.
Once you’ve installed and activated your eSIM using the QR code you’ll receive, you can connect to speeds of 3G/4G as you travel around Turkey.

Unfortunately, due to the eSIM block in Turkey local providers do not offer eSIMs. So once you arrive in the country, it might not be possible to purchase or activate an eSIM online.
So, as we’ve already mentioned, if you’re planning to go to Turkey we would advise getting and activating an eSIM from one of the international providers listed above, before you make your trip.
If you’d rather not buy an eSIM online or through an app, there are options for buying them in person – though this isn’t quite as easy. Your best bet is to keep an eye out for carrier kiosks at the airport when you arrive as you may be able to pick up a prepaid eSIM there.
Alternatively, you might also find eSIM activation kits at certain mobile operators’ stores, but this is less likely and you may have to buy a physical SIM instead.
You should be able to use an eSIM if your handset is a modern smartphone, such as iPhone, Samsung Galaxy or Google Pixel models. But if your handset is old, it’s less likely to support eSIMs. If you’re not sure, many eSIM providers have sections on their website explaining how to check.
