The digital banking app Revolut is expanding its membership options with a new top-tier plan, Revolut Ultra. Launching in spring 2023, Revolut Ultra promises to deliver exceptional access. In this review, we take a look at what it’s likely to feature and see how it stacks up against Revolut’s other membership plans.

What is Revolut Ultra?

The new top-tier membership plan is yet to launch. However, some details have already been revealed.

The app-based Revolut Ultra account is expected to sit on top of the current plans (Standard, Plus, Premium and Metal). Tara Massoudi, Revolut general manager of premium products says it will “offer ultimate choice and flexibility in managing finances”.

Features will focus on elevated travel and lifestyle experiences, and investment products.

How will Revolut Ultra work?

Like other Revolut accounts, Revolut Ultra will operate entirely through its app. As a top-tier membership, it’ll have a monthly fee. The current top-tier option is Metal at £12.99 a month. It’s anticipated Ultra will cost between £18 and £20 per month.

It’s likely that Revolut Ultra will come with all the features of the Revolut Standard current account, but with higher limits and discounts. These key features include:

  • Free ATM withdrawals (up to a monthly limit)
  • Free international payments
  • Free spending on your Revolut card in the UK and abroad
  • Ability to hold a balance on the Revolut app in 30+ currencies
  • Spending categoristation
  • “Group Bills” to split payments
  • Freeze/unfreeze your card and set spending limits
  • Option to open a Revolut <18 account (for your child)
  • Option to buy cryptocurrency

And then these are what we expect the additional features of Revolut Ultra to be:

  • Free airport lounge access
  • Low fees on Revolut investment products
  • Cashback and discounts based on user location

How is Revolut Ultra different from other Revolut memberships?

Revolut Ultra is being marketed as a luxury membership option. The main differences are likely to be:

  • Cost. As its premium subscription plan, Revolut Ultra is likely to come with the banking app’s highest monthly fee.
  • Features. It’ll feature more exclusive benefits centred around travel and investing.
  • Higher limits, interest and discounts. Based on Revolut’s other subscription plans, Revolut Ultra is likely to have higher monthly limits for ATM withdrawals, higher interest on savings balances and larger discounts on international transfers.

When will Revolut Ultra launch?

Revolut Ultra is launching in spring 2023, although an exact date has yet to be given.

New and existing customers can join the waitlist through Revolut’s website. If you join the waitlist, you’ll receive 5% cashback on purchases made in your first month with Ultra.
