Chase offers the convenience of sending secure international wire transfers online or at your local bank branch — but watch out for member requirements and high fees.

How do I send money overseas with Chase?

To send an international wire transfer with Chase, you first need to open a checking account. Once you’ve set up your account, take these steps to transfer money online:

  1. Add a wire recipient to your account.
  2. Click Make a Wire Transfer and enter your transfer details.
  3. Review your transaction details and send your funds.

Chase bank wire fees

Chase Bank’s transfer fees depend on how you’re sending the transfer and whether you’re sending or receiving an international wire transfer:

Outgoing (from online)Outgoing (from a Chase branch)IncomingBetween Chase accounts
Domestic wire transfer$25$35$15$0
International wire transfer$40$50$15$0
International wire transfer (in foreign currency)$5$50$15$0

Note: Wire transfer fees from March 2020 for Chase Total Checking accounts.

Chase offers lower fees when transferring using its foreign currency exchange option, but keep in mind that the exchange rate offered by Chase may be far weaker than money transfer competitors. Because of this the bottom option, International wire transfer (in foreign currency), may seem far cheaper than the other options until you take into account the exchange rate attached to it.

How are Chase’s exchange rates?

Like any large bank, Chase updates its rates regularly in line with global currency market fluctuations. Its exchange rates are similar to those offered by other large US banks but not as attractive as the rates you’ll get by using an independent money transfer specialist.

Who charges less?

Independent transfer services usually win out over banks when it comes to fees. There are several providers who will send a transfer for free with competitive exchange rates, including OFX, XE and TransferWise.
  • TransferWise is a peer-to-peer transfer service that uses the mid-market rate — the rate banks and transfer services use when they trade among themselves — so you can be certain you’re getting the best exchange rate on your transfer.

Available currencies and countries

Send money in more than 40 currencies to more than 90 countries worldwide.

As a general rule, you will not be able to transfer money to the following countries due to US sanctions:

  • Afghanistan
  • Belarus
  • Iran
  • Iraq
  • Lebanon
  • Liberia
  • Libya
  • Myanmar
  • Sierra Leone
  • Syria

      Hi Jasmine,

Thank you for reaching out to Finder.

We are a comparison website and not a money transfer company. You may however contact Chase directly for assistance due to the complexity of your concern. If you have the contact details of your buyer, you may also request assistance on what options you have in completing the transaction. Hope this helps!

A friend wants to loan me $100.000 and transferred the money from his Chase account into my Chase checking account within the US. It’s the third day now and the money hasn’t arrived. Chase says that because of the large amount the transaction is ‘on hold’ and can’t say when they’ll do the transaction. What’s the reason behind this?

      JhezFebruary 7, 2019Staff

      Hello Karin,

      Thank you for your comment.

Transferring a large amount of money generally takes days for it to be done. Chase do this in order to ensure that there isn’t fraud happening when the transfer is made. If you want to check the status of the transfer, you may contact the bank directly.

      Regards,
      Jhezelyn

Someone transferred me money through express wire from Chase to Indian bank. It’s been 3 days but the money was not transferred yet. What to do next?

    • Avatarfinder Customer Care
      CharisseJanuary 25, 2019Staff

      Hi Sandeep,

Chase international wire transfers are typically available to the recipient within 3-5 business days after being sent. However, the receiving bank (Indian bank) may have its own review process which could delay delivery.

You can contact your sender to let him know that you still haven’t received the money in your Indian bank account so he can make a follow up on the transfer status with Chase.

      I hope this helps.

      Cheers,
      Charisse

Is it possible to open a chase bank account in south Korea?
If one of my family opens a chase bank account in south Korea, do they still charge for fees when money is transferred between accounts?

    • Avatarfinder Customer Care
      nikkiangcoDecember 12, 2018Staff

      Hi Aloha,

Thanks for reaching out! You can open a Chase bank account in South Korea. A fee is not charged when you transfer from one Chase bank to another Chase bank. If it’s a Chase to different bank account transfer, the charges are below:

Chase Bank charges varying fees depending on whether you’re sending or receiving an international wire transfer:

      Outgoing fee. $40
Incoming fee. $15 (waived for Chase Premiere Platinum accounts)

Hope this was helpful. Don’t hesitate to message us back if you have more questions.

      Best,
      Nikki

Please answer the question about the minimum transfer amount from a Chase bank to a Russian bank Sberbank! They send me a letter stating that they cannot send the sum of $ 1100, but $ 1800 is already possible. Is this true and what are these new requirements for sending funds?

    • Avatarfinder Customer Care
      AnndyOctober 15, 2018Staff

      Hi Egor,

      Thanks for your question.

There is no minimum transfer limit for Chase Bank but it has a daily limit on of $100,000 on wire transfers.

I’m not sure why you are unable to send the full $1,100 to your recipient. You may have to contact Chase at 800-935-9935 to check why.

The requirements for sending money to Russia from a Chase bank account include the receiver’s bank account information, international bank account number (IBAN) and international bank identifier code (BIC), or the receiving country equivalent.

There are other ways to send money to Russia, you may visit our comprehensive guide on this page to check your alternative options.

      I hope this helps.

      Cheers,
      Anndy

      Hi John,

Thanks for leaving a question on finder.

If you do not have a Chase bank account, you may want to check with your bank directly on what other charges they might have. Please note that there may also be intermediary fees on top of your bank fees.

how can i deposit money from Bangladesh to my chase checking account in USA?

    • Avatarfinder Customer Care
      CharisseSeptember 25, 2018Staff

      Hi Zaman,

Thanks for reaching out to finder.

You can deposit the money by doing a bank to bank transfer or by using a money transfer company.

If you want to send money from your Bangladesh bank account to your US Chase bank account, you can log in to your Bangladesh online baking account and transfer the money. If your bank in Bangladesh does not have online banking service, you can visit your bank’s nearest branch to do the deposit/transfer in person.

If bank to bank transfer is not an option for you, you can use money transfer companies to deposit the money to your Chase bank account. Make sure you have your Chase IBAN number as well as that may be required. On this page, you can see options for money transfer companies that you can consider. You can send the money online or by visiting an agent location.

      I hope this helps.

      Cheers,
      Charisse

      Hi Ron,

Thank you for leaving a question.

If you are referring about transferring an amount to Australia with BSB, this is currently not being offered by Chase since Chase could only make transfers via the clearXchange Payments Network. The participating banks are as follows:

      Bank of America
      Capital One P2P Payments
      Chase QuickPay
      FirstBank Person to Person Transfers
      Frost Send Money
      U.S. Bank Send Money
      Wells Fargo SurePay

You may need to reach out to a money transfer company that offers bank transfers for you to be able to complete your transaction. Hope this helps!

      Cheers,
