How to buy StubHub (STUB) shares in the UK

Easy steps to invest in StubHub stock in the UK.

Online ticketing marketplace StubHub has finally gone public, becoming one of the more watched IPOs of 2025. The debut gives investors their first real opportunity to buy StubHub shares and gain exposure to one of the biggest names in the secondary ticketing market.

With the return of live events fuelling demand and strong investor interest around StubHub stock, the StubHub IPO has shone a light on both the growth potential and challenges in the live entertainment industry.

What is StubHub?

StubHub is a ticket exchange and resale platform founded in 2000 by Eric Baker and Jeff Fluhr. It operates a global marketplace for buyers and sellers of tickets to live events like sports, concerts, theatre, and other performances.

While much of its business is in the secondary ticket market (resale, borderline touting in some people’s eyes), it also has relationships with some companies and facilitates some primary ticketing (direct sales from artists and venues) through its platform.

How does the business work?

StubHub does not itself own a large inventory; instead it acts as the intermediary, taking commissions and fees from transactions between buyers and sellers. Over time, the company has changed ownership. First it was acquired by eBay in 2007, later bought by Viagogo in 2020, and now operates under StubHub Holdings.

It’s active in many countries and serves millions of users. Despite robust growth in tickets sold and gross merchandise value, the business is not yet profitable; it has reported significant losses in recent periods. It also faces regulatory scrutiny in some areas over its pricing practices, transparency, and how fees are displayed to consumers.

When did the StubHub IPO take place?

The StubHub IPO took place on September 18, 2025, with shares officially debuting on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) under the ticker “STUB”. The offering was priced at $23.50 per share, in the middle of its marketed range, raising roughly $800 million and valuing the company at about $8.6 billion. For retail investors, this IPO marks the first chance to access StubHub stock directly on the exchange and buy StubHub shares in the open market.
