Our verdict

If you’re a Harley-Davidson enthusiast, you’ll love this new rewards credit card launched in partnership with Tymit.

The Harley-Davidson Classic credit card enables you to build up loyalty points when you spend on the card and these points can then be redeemed on Harley-Davidson products and services both at an authorised dealership and online.

As with all credit cards, you’ll be able to pay off your purchases the following month without accruing interest. But, just like Tymit’s own credit card, you can also choose to spread the cost over 3 to 36 monthly instalments, with added interest. You can set up different repayment plans for each purchase, providing a fully regulated alternative to buy now, pay later (BNPL) solutions.

But where it really stands out is with its offer of 3 months interest free on all purchases made at an authorised Harley-Davidson dealership or at h-d.com. All you’ll need to do is make your purchase and then pick a 3-month instalment plan in the app, and you’ll repay at 0% interest.

Of course, if spending money with Harley-Davidson isn’t your bag, there’s no real benefit to using this card. But if you fancy adding to your range of Harley-Davidson accessories, this card could be right up your street. The big caveat is that points can’t be redeemed when you buy a motorcycle, which is a bit of a let down.

There is no annual fee with the Classic card. But any balance that isn’t included in the 0% 3-month instalment plan or repaid in full the following month, will attract interest. The card has a representative APR of 29.9% (variable).

If you fancy adding even more rewards and perks to your package, take a look at this card’s big sister. But be warned - you will have to pay an annual fee of £120.

Pros

  • Earn loyalty points whenever you spend
  • No annual fee
  • Option to spread Harley-Davidson purchases over 3 months interest-free
  • Spread the cost of all other purchases over 3 to 36 months

  • Points can’t be redeemed on Harley-Davidson motorbikes
  • You’ll need to have a good credit history and be at least 21 to be eligible
  • Points expire after 24 months
  • There’s a 2.99% foreign exchange fee
  • You’ll only be able to redeem up to 10% of the purchase price

What benefits can I get with a Harley-Davidson Classic credit card?

Earning rewards

Whenever you spend on your Harley-Davidson Classic credit card, you’ll earn points. How much you earn will depend on where you’ve shopped:

  • Escape points (earned at participating Harley-Davidson dealers and on harleydavidson.com). You’ll earn 1.5 points for every £1 spent.
  • Experience points (earned at UK hotels, restaurants and fuel stations). You’ll earn 1 point for every £1 spent.
  • Everyday points (everywhere else). You’ll earn 0.5 points for every £1 spent.

Points can’t be earned on transactions such as cash withdrawals or if you return an item and get a refund during the 30 days after the purchase.

Redeeming rewards

Points earned with your card can only be redeemed on the h-d.com website or at participating Harley-Davidson dealers.

You can choose whether you want to redeem or earn points up to 8 hours after a purchase. After 8 hours, you’ll automatically earn points that will be added to your balance after 30 days.

Points expire after 24 months from the moment of purchase. Each point has a cash value of £0.005. You’ll also only be able to redeem up to 10% of the purchase price.

0% interest instalment plans

For purchases made at an authorised Harley-Davidson dealership or at h-d.com, you can choose whether you want to take advantage of a 3-month 0% payment plan. You can select to do this in the app. As long as you stick to your repayments and pay off the purchase within 3 months, you won’t be charged interest. You can also pay the amount back early if you want to (this applies to all instalment plans).

How much does the Harley-Davidson Classic credit card cost?

There is no annual fee for the Harley-Davidson Classic credit card. However, you will be charged interest on any purchases you repay through a 3-36 month instalment plan (with the exception of the 0% offer).

You may also be charged a £10 fee for late payments and a 2.99% foreign exchange fee applies if you use your card overseas.

Repayment options

You can make manual repayments through Harley-Davidson Financial Services's app by logging in to your online banking or over the phone. Alternatively, you may wish to set up a direct debit.

A direct debit protects you from forgetting to make a repayment and either damaging your credit score, getting hit with a penalty fee (£10) or losing any promotional rates as a result.

You can arrange a direct debit for repayments when you apply for the credit card. The table below shows the options available.
