Founded in 2020, Juni is a Swedish startup with an online lending platform. Its aim is to be the “financial companion” for ecommerce and online marketing entrepreneurs.

This review looks at its business account in detail.

What types of business accounts are on offer?

With Juni, businesses can hold IBAN accounts in 3 different currencies: sterling, euros and US dollars. Your account will offer the following key features:

  • All-in-one platform. Track all of your company’s financials on the one platform, built with more than 2,400 integrations. Bring together your bank accounts and payment gateways such as PayPal, Stripe and Wise on the one dashboard.
  • Google Ads integration. Automatic receipt generation for bookkeeping. Keep track of ad spend, with monthly invoices pulled from your account.
  • User roles and permissions feature. Enabling you to assign different permissions and access to different team members.
  • Shopify integration. Get a centralised financial overview of all your Shopify accounts.
  • Facebook Ads integration. Keep track of ad spend with real-time data and insights.
  • Accounting software integration. Sync your account with Xero to manage payments.
  • Virtual cards for online advertising. Create as many virtual cards as you want at no extra cost.
  • Cashback on card spend. Earn up to 1% cashback on all eligible Juni card spend.

What fees are there to pay?

The good news for businesses is that there are very few fees to pay with the Juni account. You can sign up completely free of charge, and there’s no fee for your physical and/or virtual Visa or Mastercard cards. There are also no fees for SEPA and Faster Payment transfers.

Juni does not charge for foreign card transactions, but if the currencies do not match, Visa or Mastercard may charge a fee. ATM withdrawals on the Visa card are also free of charge, but you could be charged up to €3 for the Mastercard card.

How to apply

To apply for the Juni business account, you’ll need to fill in an online form, providing details about yourself and your business. You will then be required to upload the necessary documents, including your ID, to complete the application process. Your account should be up and running within 10 business days.

Juni currently only accepts limited liability companies based in the UK or EEA.

Is Juni safe?

Juni Technology is a Swedish Limited Company. Its Visa Platinum card is issued by Payrnet Limited in the UK, and the Juni Mastercard is issued by Payment Card Solutions in the UK. Both of these issuers are regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA).

Juni does not operate as a bank which means the money you deposit with Juni will not be protected by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS). Instead, it will be kept in safeguarded accounts in Luxembourg (for euros and US dollars) and the UK (for sterling). These are separate from the money used for Juni’s business operations which means that if Juni was to go bankrupt or become insolvent, you should get your money back.
