On Monday 8 July, Barclays launched a switch deal for new customers, offering £175. But it’s not straightforward. We explain the hoops you have to jump through here. Or compare it against other deals in our switching deals guide.
How much can I get with Barclays’ switch deal?
If you complete the steps you’ll receive £175 from Barclays, which is paid out within 28 days of you meeting the criteria. You have to be a new customer, never have claimed a switching bonus from Barclays before, and do it all through the app.
Who can get the deal?
New customers are eligible for this switch bonus from Barclays. You can’t qualify if:
You already have a current account with Barclays
You’ve received a switching offer reward from Barclays in the past
You’re only eligible for a Barclays basic current account
You fail to complete the full switch within 30 days
You didn’t open your new account in the Barclays app
You’ve opened a joint account
You already requested a switch before the offer began, or you tried to switch an existing Barclays account
You don’t have a mobile number or email address
You’re not a UK resident
You’re not aged 18+
You don’t fulfil all the terms – listed below
How can I get the deal?
Requirements to get the £175 bonus:
Open a new Barclays Bank Account (no monthly fee) or Premier Current Account (no monthly fee as long as you have £100,000 or more in your account, or earn at least £75,000 per year) in the Barclays app.
If you’re opening a Barclays Bank Account, sign up to the Blue Rewards scheme which offers cashback, digital subscriptions and more for £5 per month.
Request a full switch and pay in at least £800 by 30 August 2024.
You must switch over a minimum of 2 active direct debits.
Exclusions
If you’re an existing Barclays bank account holder, you won’t be eligible.
You can’t claim the offer if you’ve received, or are waiting to receive, any switch incentive from Barclays from any previous date.

Barclays has run several switch deals in the past. In November 2023, they ran an offer giving new customers £175 for opening an account through the app and performing a full switch. In both 2018 and 2019, they had a switch offer awarding £84 plus double Barclays Blue Rewards cashback for a year.
