Tesco Bank’s credit card rewards scheme: Learn how to earn and spend Clubcard points, where you can redeem points and the pros and cons.
Tesco Bank offers a range of rewards credit cards that allow you to collect additional Clubcard points along with your regular Tesco Clubcard. You can redeem these point on your next shop or you can spend them on holidays, meals out, leisure attractions and more with its partners.
Tesco Bank credit card points and regular Clubcard points
Your Tesco Bank credit card is considered your Clubcard, so there’s no need to swipe both at the till.
With most Tesco Bank credit cards, you receive 1 point per £4 spent in a Tesco store or online, in addition to the standard Clubcard rewards system of 1 point for every £1 spent. So for every £4 spent in Tesco, you could receive a total of 5 points. With this earn rate, to obtain 150 points (£1.50 voucher), you would need to spend £120 with Tesco.
Alternatively, if you use your credit card for purchases elsewhere, you will receive 1 point per £8 spent.
Tesco Bank offers Premium, World, Classic and Platinum credit cards with higher earn rates, such as 1 point per £1 or £2 spent. However, these are unavailable to new customers and may only be offered to you once you have banked with Tesco for some time and meet other criteria.
How do you redeem Tesco Clubcard points?
Every three months, your points automatically get turned into vouchers that you can spend at tesco.com, in store, on Tesco fuel or with one of the Clubcard Reward Partners. They will usually be sent to you in February, May, August and November.
Most of the reward partners accept Clubcard vouchers, which you can change into partner vouchers. However, if you want to spend your points on British Airways or Virgin Atlantic holidays or flights, you will need to convert your Tesco vouchers into either Avios or Virgin Atlantic Flying Club Miles currency respectively. (At time of writing, you can exchange £150 in Clubcard vouchers for 36,000 Avios or 37,500 Virgin Atlantic Flying Club miles).
Tesco Clubcard vouchers usually have an expiry date of two years. However, if you exchange your Clubcard vouchers to partner vouchers, these are usually only valid for a much shorter period.
