Some of its best features include its website and streamlined app. These online services let you handle signing up, getting your ID cards, filing a claim and uploading any photos of accident damage.
But if you’re after personalized help with an agent or having a face-to-face conversation, you can find higher-rated customer service. Geico has average customer service and sees mixed online reviews about its billing and claims process.
Overall, Geico works best if you’re comparing the cheapest rates and enjoy managing your policy and claims process online.

Case study: Roslyn's experience
I switched to Geico car insurance when we moved out of state and our local insurer was no longer available near us.
My husband and I had a joint policy with Erie for $1,244 a year for 100/300/100 coverage with collision and comprehensive on a 2016 Ford C-Max and a 2011 Toyota Prius.
Geico gave us a quote of $691 a year for the same coverage but without collision and comprehensive on the Prius. That rate dropped to $547 when we added Geico renters insurance underwritten by Assurant, and I’m able to manage everything together online.
Getting an online quote is long and difficult, but Geico lets you save your quote and come back later. You can tweak your quote and compare policies side by side, which makes it easy to see how much extra coverage you can buy. The online policy management is also easier than other companies’ websites I’ve used.
Compare alternatives to Geico
If you want the cheapest price for well-rounded coverage, a quote from Progressive is worth your while. Progressive is known for its wide coverage, long list of discounts and options galore for bundling other kinds of insurance.
Another contender for cheap premiums is USAA, which consistently rivals Geico in our research for the lowest car insurance rates. USAA also rises to the top for customer satisfaction, offering its rates and service to military members and their families.
If you’re up for trying a new kind of policy, you could go for Allstate’s Drivewise program — which tracks how safely you drive and rewards you with cashback every six months. Consider these companies’ coverage, benefits and cost compared to others in the table, then select Get quotes to see your customized policy.
