3M is a manufacturing company that makes and sells a variety of industrial and worker safety equipment, including face masks. While this brand is most known for its N95 respirator face masks, 3M now also makes a cloth face mask option. Home Depot and Lowe’s have recently been out of stock of most 3M masks due to high demand and low supply.

We regularly update this page to reflect the current availability of 3M face masks online, checking stock from Amazon, Home Depot, Lowe’s, Ace Hardware, Walmart and other major retailers.

Can you buy N95 masks at these stores?

Not necessarily — though Amazon and others have a small stock of N95 masks. If you’re looking to buy N95 or KN95 masks specifically, check our page on in-stock sellers.

3M vs. Makrite masks: What’s the difference?

3M and Makrite are two different brands that manufacture similar personal protective equipment (PPE), including several types of face masks. These masks are often used in construction, painting and other professions where small particles can be easily inhaled without protection.

Are all 3M masks N95 masks?

Some types of 3M masks use an N95 respirator to filter out 95% of airborne particles. However, not all masks made by 3M necessarily have this filter. Check the product specifications of the mask you’re looking at to determine whether or not it contains a filtration device.

What does “3M” mean on a face mask?

3M is the brand name of the manufacturer that makes the face mask. “3M” is not a regulated designation like the term “N95” is.
