TTM: trailing 12 months
There are currently 2.2 million 500-com shares held short by investors – that's known as 500-com's "short interest". This figure is 11.3% down from 2.4 million last month.
There are a few different ways that this level of interest in shorting 500-com shares can be evaluated.
500-com's "short interest ratio" (SIR) is the quantity of 500-com shares currently shorted divided by the average quantity of 500-com shares traded daily (recently around 800196.3099631). 500-com's SIR currently stands at 2.71. In other words for every 100,000 500-com shares traded daily on the market, roughly 2710 shares are currently held short.
However 500-com's short interest can also be evaluated against the total number of 500-com shares, or, against the total number of tradable 500-com shares (the shares that aren't held by "insiders" or major long-term shareholders – also known as the "float"). In this case 500-com's short interest could be expressed as 0.05% of the outstanding shares (for every 100,000 500-com shares in existence, roughly 50 shares are currently held short) or 0% of the tradable shares (for every 100,000 tradable 500-com shares, roughly 0 shares are currently held short).
Such a low SIR usually points to an optimistic outlook for the share price, with fewer people currently willing to bet against 500-com.

We're not expecting 500-com to pay a dividend over the next 12 months.
Over the last 12 months, 500-com's shares have ranged in value from as little as $2.51 up to $35. A popular way to gauge a stock's volatility is its "beta".
Beta is a measure of a share's volatility in relation to the market. The market (NYSE average) beta is 1, while 500-com's is 1.6201. This would suggest that 500-com's shares are more volatile than the average for this exchange and represent, relatively-speaking, a higher risk (but potentially also market-beating returns).
