As NHS staff continue to face unprecedented pressure in the midst of the coronavirus epidemic, a huge number of brands are showing solidarity and support to those on the front line through discounts and freebies.

As well as supermarkets offering special shopping hours, huge numbers of fast-food chains, travel brands and homeware companies have also made an effort to offer a little something extra.

Whether it’s fast-food or fresh supermarket produce, here’s a breakdown of where NHS workers can get a discount or freebies.

  • Costa
    The coffee-making giant will be giving away 250,000 “ready-to-drink” Costa Coffee cans to NHS workers.
  • Domino’s
    Pizza would go down a right treat if you’ve been on your feet all day and just need a warm meal pronto. That’s why NHS workers get up to 30% off their order at Domino’s.
  • Las Iguanas
    What about Mexican food? If it’s your thing, order from Las Iguanas and get 50% off takeaway food, plus a free can of Coke. Just have your NHS ID ready at collection or delivery.
  • Nando’s
    As with many offers, NHS workers with an ID badge will be able to enjoy half-price food at Nando’s. The restaurant says it’s a way of saying thank you to the “heroes” for all that they’re doing.
  • Leon
    Grab a bite to eat on your lunch break at Leon with 50% off takeaway food and free deliveries for NHS staff. You might also be able to pick up everyday food while you’re there, as the company continues to stock fresh produce to ease the pressure on supermarkets.

    For the NHS, police and fire services, Aldi is opening 30 minutes earlier on Sundays (between 9.30am and 10am).
  • Sainsbury’s
    Open 30 minutes early daily for NHS staff, Sainsbury’s could be a good place to stock up on kitchen essentials.
  • Asda
    If you’re an Asda shopper, the retailer is prioritising NHS staff on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays between 8am and 9am.
  • Morrisons
    Open an hour early between Monday and Saturday for all NHS workers, you should be able to pick up fresh produce when you need it. Just make sure to arrive between 7am and 8am.
