Barclaycard Freedom Rewards points
Barclaycards that earn Freedom Rewards points are not currently available to new customers. If you're already using the scheme, here's how to collect and redeem points, and if you're not, find out about popular alternatives.
If you have a Freedom Rewards credit card from Barclays, you automatically earn Freedom points every time you use your credit card, and you can convert them into a variety of vouchers.
We’ve looked at how the scheme works to help you get the best out of it.
Comparison of rewards credit cards
Barclaycard Freedom Rewards program
If you already have a Barclaycard Freedom Rewards card, chances are you’re already collecting points. Barclays normally gives you 1 point for every £1 you spend, but the earn rate doubles when you use the card at supermarkets, petrol stations and to travel with Transport for London.
For example, if in a month you spend £100 on the Tube, £100 in petrol, £500 for your grocery shopping and £600 for other purchases with your Barclaycard, you earn 2,000 Freedom points.
The Barclaycard Freedom Rewards scheme is reserved for consumers who have a Freedom Rewards credit card, which isn’t available for new customers anymore. At the time of writing, the card offers cash back, rather than points.
If you’re looking to earn rewards on your spending, you’ll have to browse for alternatives – you can compare alternative rewards credit cards.
How do you redeem Barclaycard Freedom points?
You normally earn a £5 voucher every time you collect 1,750 Freedom points. However, sometimes Barclays publishes additional offers on its Rewards store, which allow you to get more value for your points.
You can redeem your Freedom points online by logging into the store and converting them into vouchers or charity donations.
You can either have them emailed or posted to you. Emailed vouchers arrive almost instantly, while posted ones can take up to 10 days.

Who are Barclaycard Freedom Rewards partners?
Despite not being able to turn Freedom points into cash, you do have quite a range of options you can choose from for your vouchers. The most well-represented category is entertainment, so the Freedom Rewards scheme is a good option if you like cinema, theatre or one-day trips with the family, but Barclays also offers various deals for food and shopping.
While most options are for physical shops, you can spend some vouchers online.
