What is Audius?

Audius is a blockchain-based music streaming service that is completely decentralized, and all of the content on the platform is owned by the artists. Content creators are able to maximize their royalties and only have to share a minimum processing fee with the platform. The model works in direct opposition to how popular music providers like Spotify, TIDAL and Apple Music currently function. Audio is the natural cryptocurrency of the Audius ecosystem. According to CMC, it enables artists to get paid directly anytime their tracks are streamed on the platform, and instead of having to wait to receive their loyalty bonuses, Audius allows them to receive their earnings in real-time in the form of Audio tokens.

Audius (AUDIO) is the 125th largest cryptocurrency in the world by market cap, valued at $819,584,589. The current price of Audius is $1.98, which is -14.188% lower than yesterday. Prices have ranged between $2.32 and $1.91 over the past 24 hours. All prices are listed in US dollars and accurate as of October 27, 2021 12:10 UTC.

What to consider when buying Audius

Some of Audius’s key selling points include the following:
  • Unique operational model: Contrary to how most streamlining services pay their artists — i.e. a small cut of every play received — Audius flips the narrative completely and gives content creators an overwhelming share of any received profits.
  • Future-driven design: In addition to utilizing its native Audio token, the platform uses special “artist tokens” as well as third-party stablecoins. As a result, users have a number of different monetary pathways to engage with the platform.
  • Fast and efficient: The project allows artists to share their audio files with their fans in an extremely quick and efficient manner. Audius also makes it extremely easy for users to quickly perform metadata queries.
  • Solid governance: Audius makes use of a decentralized governance protocol, allowing artists, fans and node operators to implement changes that affect the platform’s operational framework.
  • Financial incentives: According to Ivan on Tech Academy, every action within the ecosystem is incentivized. For example, simple activities like creating playlists and track sharing earn users Audio tokens that can later be redeemed for a number of different freebies.
