OKX specializes in a variety of crypto services, including spot trading, derivatives, margin trading, futures, options, staking and DeFi products. The platform offers trading of over 340 cryptocurrencies, along with additional products like trading bots, crypto loans and its Web3 wallet. OKX serves over 120 million users globally and ranks among the largest cryptocurrency exchanges by daily trading volume.
Right now, OKX is running a bonus offer for new users of up to $500 in free bitcoin (BTC).
You can earn up to $500 in BTC by signing up as a new user. The reward is structured as four tasks, each unlocking a separate BTC bonus. All tasks must be completed within 7 days of opening your account:
Complete advanced identity verification (KYC) and receive $10 in BTC.
Deposit $100 and receive $40 in BTC.
Deposit and trade $1,000 and receive $100 in BTC.
Deposit and trade $10,000 and receive $350 in BTC.
To unlock the rewards, you’ll need to maintain assets under management (AUM) at the level specified in the offer for a total of 30 days within a 90-day period after the bonus is received. If you don’t meet that requirement, OKX reclaims the reward. Rewards may also be locked from trading or withdrawal for up to 90 days after receipt.
Note that OKX places a temporary hold on your account equal to the live market value of the awarded BTC, not the value at the time you received it. The hold tracks the spot price continuously, so even after you’ve sold or converted the BTC, the hold amount can rise if BTC’s price climbs — potentially locking part of your balance until the AUM requirement is satisfied.

Separate T&Cs and limits apply.
OKX often runs welcome and referral bonuses that give you extra rewards for getting started or staying active. The platform also gives you a lot of ways to get more out of your crypto. You can trade hundreds of coins, earn interest through staking or savings and access advanced tools like futures and options — all in one place.
However, OKX is not the only crypto exchange offering bonuses. Other platforms like Coinbase or Kraken may offer a better promotion to fit your needs, so it is important to compare your options before opening a new account.
OKX regularly runs welcome and referral bonuses that reward new users for getting started, as well as ongoing promotions for active users. New users who sign up with a referral code can unlock rewards by completing tasks in the platform's Reward Center, such as verifying their identity and making a qualifying deposit.
Bonuses can include welcome crypto, mystery boxes, and trading fee rebates. As with most exchanges, specific amounts and terms change frequently, so it's worth checking OKX's promotions page directly for the latest offers.
OKX has Chinese roots but is no longer a Chinese company. It was originally founded in Beijing in 2013, but in October 2021, it stopped serving customers in mainland China due to new regulations, and its founding team has since moved out of the region.
As of 2026, OKX's corporate headquarters is in San Jose, California, following a relocation in April 2025 after a settlement with the US Department of Justice. It now operates as a global company with offices across the US, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia.
