Our verdict
Beginner-friendly crypto trading with generous educational resources but a high minimum deposit.
eToro’s crypto platform is hard to beat for new investors, offering both copy and social trading to jumpstart your portfolio. It offers generous investing tools and fantastic support through a strong crypto community. However, the minimum deposit of $100 to open the account is higher than some competitors, which may dissuade more budget-conscious investors. Its service area is also limited — there is no eToro crypto trading in Hawaii, Nevada, New York, Puerto Rico or the US Virgin Islands.

-

-

eToro is best for beginners
eToro is worthy of consideration if you’re just starting your investment journey. One of eToro’s leading highlights is its community. Choose from social trading or copy trading — both are available. You can use a free virtual portfolio to practice trading using eToro crypto, stock and exchange-traded funds (ETFs). You can also try your hand at copy trading with its complimentary CopyTrader feature, allowing you to track and mimic successful investors.
What we like about eToro
eToro has several benefits, such as a user-friendly trading platform, excellent resources, few fees and special rewards with its eToro Club.
Convenient trading platform
eToro maintains a user-friendly investing platform that enables both copy and social trading. Even better, it has one-click trading to speed up the process. Your eToro crypto wallet simplifies transactions, securely holding your money where you can access it.
Support
With its user-friendly tools and generous library of resources, eToro is fantastic for newer investors. Its Smart Portfolios feature allows you to access investment portfolios specifically created by eToro experts, giving you immediate direction for your investments. Plus, with the ProCharts and Tipranks Research Tab, you can benefit from expert insight from top analysts.
Few fees
Overall, eToro offers very few fees. It is one of the best cheap stock brokers, charging low commissions of a dollar or two for stocks with zero commission on ETFs and a 1% buy/sell fee for crypto. There are no account opening or management fees, and eToro skips the deposit fees when you use the same currency as your eToro account.
Rewards as you grow
For its high-wealth users, eToro offers its eToro Club, a membership program that gives members access to exclusive resources and tools.
Enrollment is automatic based on your balance, with each tier receiving increasing premium perks and features like free subscriptions to premium content and exclusive investing tips. Members also are invited to VIP events where they can network with special guests.

Tier | Balance requirement |
---|---|

Gold | $10,000 |
Platinum | $25,000 |
Platinum+ | $50,000 |
Diamond | $250,000 |
Where eToro falls short
eToro also has some drawbacks, such as a limited service area, a mandatory minimum deposit and fewer advanced resources than some competitors.
Limited service area
Unfortunately, eToro is not available everywhere. Users in Hawaii, Nevada, New York, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands cannot use the platform for crypto trading. For those looking to open a Pro account, it is only available to EU and UK users, not those in the US.
While it accommodates the majority of the country, it does neglect a large number of users who might want these resources in their crypto platform.
High minimum deposit
To get started on eToro, you must deposit at least $100 into your account. To compare, Gemini does not have a minimum deposit at all. This requirement might be enough to make new investors look for another brokerage with a more affordable entry point.
Fewer investment options
Beyond crypto trading, eToro offers many popular investment options for its users, but others are noticeably missing. There are no mutual funds or futures contracts available.
May lack resources for experienced investors
eToro prioritizes resources and support, but they are largely for newer investors. More experienced investors may be disappointed by eToro’s simplicity and lack of advanced features. In this case, a platform like Interactive Brokers may be better with its expanded trading options, paper trading and available desktop downloads for both Windows and Mac.
Is eToro legit?
Today, eToro works in accordance with FINRA, SIPC and SEC regulations while protecting its data with SSL encryption. It employs advanced security protocols with military-grade offline, aka ‘cold,’ storage to protect your data.
In September 2024, eToro settled with the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) for $1.5 million. Although it did not agree to or deny the charges, it agreed to pay the penalty for charges, stating that it operated as an unregistered broker and unregistered clearing agency through its trading platform. As a result, certain eToro cryptocurrencies were removed from trading.
eToro in the news
Rumor has it that eToro is headed toward a $5 billion US IPO that could result in a $5+ billion valuation based on a recent Financial Times article.
Listed eToro crypto exchange assets
eToro has significantly increased its crypto offerings in recent months, expanding to over 60 supported assets.
