Crypto.com is best for just about anyone

“Best for all” is not a recommendation we make often — or lightly — but it’s hard to find a platform that scores better, according to our in-house methodology. Crypto.com comes with just about every bell and whistle that exchanges offer these days: staking, advanced trading charts, a self-custody wallet and a crypto prepaid card with cash back.

App reviews from new crypto traders often say the platform is easy to navigate and that the signup process was very straightforward. Those even initially reluctant to sign up say they were glad they chose the exchange.

Advanced users can enjoy deep liquidity and ultra-low latency while trading over 440 cryptocurrencies and over 480 trading pairs. The Market Maker and VIP programs also provide exclusive fee discounts, invitations to industry events, professional market analysis and around-the-clock dedicated client support.

What we like about Crypto.com

Crypto.com stands out with so many offerings that it’s difficult to list them all.

Comprehensive features for an all-in-one experience

Crypto.com offers a robust suite of tools that lets users trade, swap and earn in multiple ways — all within a single integrated platform.

  • Visa Signature credit card. Crypto.com offers a prepaid credit card with cashback crypto rewards ranging from 1.5% up to 6% back and welcome bonuses up to $2,500, with higher tiers providing rebates for Spotify, Netflix, Amazon and X subscriptions, plus Priority Pass airport lounge access.
  • Staking. Offers staking on 34 coins across several top blockchains, with rates up to 13.74% APY to earn passively. Liquid staking is also available, allowing users to earn staking rewards while participating in other DeFi activities at the same time.
  • Banking. Earn up to 5% APY on your idle cash through its banking partner Green Dot, with no minimum amount or lock-up period. Your funds are insured for up to $5 million, which is substantially higher than the standard $250,000 offered by most banks.
  • Zero-commission stock and ETF trading. Beyond just cryptocurrency, the platform also offers zero-commission trading on over 5,000 stocks and exchange-traded funds (ETFs) with fractional share options, and up to a 3% bonus on securities transfers from other brokerages.
  • CFTC-regulated derivatives. Trade leveraged cryptocurrency contracts with government oversight, allowing investors to control larger positions with less capital while benefiting from US regulatory protections and strict risk management standards.
  • Prediction trading. Another CFTC-regulated feature that allows users to forecast outcomes of political, economic and financial events by trading Yes/No contracts for $1 or $10 each, receiving payment if correct. Prediction trading of cultural events will also be added soon.

Robust security and crime insurance

Crypto.com combines regulatory safeguards, cold storage security and insurance coverage to help protect users and their investments.

  • Two-Factor Authentication. Uses Time-based One-time Passwords (TOTP) that generate temporary 6-digit codes valid for 30 seconds, required for all transactions affecting assets on untrusted devices.
  • Address Whitelisting. Traders can activate address whitelisting to ensure withdrawals are only approved when sent to verified wallet addresses, with a mandatory 24-hour grace period for new addresses.
  • 1:1 Asset Reserves. Holds all customer assets deposited on the platform in institutional-grade reserve accounts on a 1:1 basis, with funds responsibly backed and accessible at customers’ convenience.
  • Crypto.com Onchain Self-Custody Wallet. Non-custodial multi-chain wallet providing direct access to DeFi protocols, decentralized exchanges, NFT marketplaces, and Web3 dApps, allowing users to trade, stake, and earn rewards across 25+ tokens while maintaining full control of their private keys.
  • Crime insurance. Crypto.com Custody Trust Company provides crime insurance of $120 million for digital assets in cold storage, protecting your investments from theft or loss.

While crime insurance is slowly becoming more common in the crypto space, it’s still a rare find among most platforms — especially with all these other features combined.

Wide range of cryptocurrencies

Crypto.com caters to a wide spectrum of crypto traders with its extensive coin selection. The exchange supports hundreds of assets — from well-known names like bitcoin (BTC), ether (ETH) and XRP (XRP) to smaller, harder-to-find tokens such as Cosmos (ATOM), Banana (BANANA) and Tectonic (TONIC).

This depth of choice makes it suitable for newcomers building a basic portfolio as well as experienced traders seeking exposure to lesser-known projects.

CRO: the Crypto.com coin

Crypto.com even features its own native token, CRO. By staking the Crypto.com coin, users can earn higher interest rates, lower their trading fees and unlock premium Visa card tiers that offer cash back, lounge access and subscription rebates. CRO can also be used for payments, liquidity provision and yield opportunities in the Crypto.com App, Exchange and DeFi Wallet.

For active users, holding CRO effectively enhances rewards, reduces costs and grants access to exclusive perks within the broader Crypto.com ecosystem.

Where Crypto.com falls short

Crypto.com offers so many features that it’s difficult to find any drawbacks — but there are a few.

Not available in New York

While it’s available in the 49 other states, Crypto.com isn’t available in New York — one of the most stringent financial regulatory environments in the world. Those residing in the Empire State will need to check out one of the few platforms registered there for trading crypto, including Gemini, Public or Robinhood.

No phone support

While Crypto.com offers live chat in under 10 minutes and a robust library of educational resources, there’s no direct phone number to call if you’re experiencing technical difficulties. Some crypto traders may find this feature lacking, as urgent or complex issues may be easier to explain over the phone than by chat.

If you prefer phone support when dealing with trading issues, you’ll have to check out platforms like Coinbase or Kraken, where you can talk to a live person.

Is Crypto.com legit?

Crypto.com is a legitimate cryptocurrency exchange that serves over 100 million customers globally across more than 90 countries. The platform employs two-factor authentication (2FA) using time-based one-time passwords that refresh every 30 seconds. It also maintains $120 million in insurance coverage for digital assets held in cold storage, protecting against physical loss, theft and damage.

However, in January 2022, the platform confirmed that a high-profile cybersecurity attack resulted in around $34 million in stolen crypto across 483 accounts.(1) Crypto.com fully reimbursed the affected accounts, and it has since worked to enhance its security infrastructure.

In August 2024, the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) sent Crypto.com a Wells Notice, which is sent to a company when the agency’s staff intends to recommend enforcement action against it. In October 2024, Crypto.com filed a lawsuit against the SEC, contending that it had expanded its jurisdiction beyond statutory limits, among other accusations. In March 2025, the SEC closed its investigation of Crypto.com with no enforcement action against the platform, and Crypto.com dropped its lawsuit.(2)

  3. Register your account by providing your personal information, including your name, address and phone number. Then, verify your phone number via a confirmation code sent by text.

Customer experience

Crypto.com is not accredited by the Better Business Bureau (BBB), which awards the platform with an F rating for failing to respond to over 550 complaints lodged against it. On Trustpilot, it scores a meager 1.4 out of 5 stars. Common complaints include high fees, difficulty transferring funds and hackers using Crypto.com’s branding in phishing attempts via email and text — the last of which isn’t really the platform’s fault.

However, Crypto.com scores much better on mobile reviews. It earns a 4.7 rating on iOS and a 4.5 rating on Android on nearly a million combined reviews. Positive feedback praises the easy navigation, smooth signup process and the plethora of advanced features and trading tools.
