When taking into account all capital cities analysed, the global average price for a coffee is £2.55 in 2025. This is only slightly cheaper than the average cost of a pint around the world.

The cheapest places to get a coffee (out of the 42 cities and large towns analysed) are Milton Keynes and Leicester at just £2.69 on average. This is 66p less than the UK average and every little helps!
Kingston upon Hull and Gloucester are the next cheapest cities to buy a coffee, with prices of £2.82 and £2.85 on average.
The most expensive city to buy a coffee is, unsurprisingly, the capital London, with an average price of £3.73, although many shops will charge more than that. Cambridge, Edinburgh and Sunderland are the next most expensive cities for a cup of coffee, at £3.72 on average, while Bristol and Manchester also come near the top, with an average coffee price of £3.65.
The number of major UK cities and towns with an average coffee price of more than £3.50 has increased in the past year. In 2024, just 4 cities had an average price of more than £3.50 but, in 2025, this has risen to 12 towns and cities.
