Who is Chase Secure Banking best for?
Chase Secure Banking is likely best for someone between the ages of 17 and 24, since the $4.95 monthly fee is automatically waived if you’re in that age range. Additionally, it has no overdraft fees, so it can be a solid option for newbies to banking who want to avoid costly fees while trying out their first checking account.
What we like about Chase Secure Banking
It’s not anything super spectacular, but it’s got some good callouts. And this account shines for many of the same reasons Chase’s other checking products shine: a dependable network of branches and a straightforward account.
Monthly fee can be waived
The Chase Secure Banking account used to have no way to waive the $4.95 monthly fee, but as of 2026, that has changed!
As we’ve mentioned, the monthly fee is waived automatically if the account holder is between the ages of 17 and 24; ideal for college-aged students.
If you’re not in that age demographic, you can also waive the monthly fee if you recieve at least $250 in qualifying electronic deposits per month. On top of that, Chase does support early direct deposit, meaning you could receive electronic deposits up to two days early.
No overdraft fees or opening deposit
This account has no minimum deposit requirement to open, and no fees for money orders or cashier’s checks. This pairs well with the lack of overdraft fees.
Highly-rated banking app
A Chase Secure checking account also gives you access to nearly everything Chase has to offer from it’s solid banking app, including Chase Credit Journey with Experian, perform Zelle transactions, budgeting tools, account alerts, perform wire transfers and more.
The Chase Mobile App has fantastic ratings on Google Play and the Apple App store; with millions of ratings.
What could be better
If you can’t waive the monthly fee, you’re stuck paying Chase $4.95 each month. There are plenty of free checking accounts to compare.

How we picked theseWhat is the Finder Score?
The Finder Score crunches over 300 checking accounts from hundreds of financial institutions. It takes into account the product's monthly fees, overdraft fees, opening deposit, customer support options, ATM network and features — this gives you a simple score out of 10.
To provide a Score, Finder’s banking experts analyze hundreds of checking accounts against what we consider is the best option: no monthly fees, no overdraft fees, a large ATM network of 50,000 or more, additional features outside of typical banking services, and the optional perk of earning interest. Accounts that are nearly free to maintain and use are scored the highest, while accounts with costly fees and few features are scored the lowest.
