Avengers: Endgame was the biggest film of 2019. It was the highest grossing movie worldwide, taking a staggering $2.8 billion. It also made the most amount of money of any film showing at UK cinemas (£83 million).

What is Avengers: Endgame about?

This movie was one of three releases from the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) in 2019. It is the spectacular conclusion to the Avengers part of the franchise.

It follows on from the dramatic events of 2018’s Avengers: Infinity War and sees actors such as Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man), Chris Evans (Captain America), Mark Ruffalo (Hulk), Chris Hemsworth (Thor) and Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow) reprise their roles as fans’ favourite superheroes.

The group must reunite once again to try to undo the devastation caused by master villain Thanos and to restore balance to the universe. But will they succeed? You’ll have to watch the film to find out!

Is the film any good?

As well as being the top film in the UK last year, Avengers: Endgame broke box-office records across the world. It became the highest grossing film of all time in the United States, finally beating 2009’s Avatar.

It posted an impressive score of 94% on Rotten Tomatoes, receiving rave reviews from critics and audiences alike.

Fans lauded the action-packed movie, saying it provided a fitting ending to this particular sequence of films, which doesn’t always happen in the case of such a long film series.

If you’re a devotee of the Marvel comic books or the films, then this one is not to be missed.

Where can I watch Avengers: Endgame online?

Marvel Studios is owned by Disney, which is keeping the streaming of Avengers: Endgame exclusively for its new Disney+ channel.

As a result, Avengers: Endgame is not available on Netflix or Amazon Prime streaming services, although you can buy it as a standalone movie to watch on Amazon Prime. You can also view the film on NOW TV if you have purchased its Sky Cinema Pass.

Disney+ launched in the USA and Australia at the end of 2019. The good news for UK film fans is that the channel went live in this country on 24 March 2020, so you can now watch Avengers: Endgame online in the UK too.

As well as Endgame and all of the other Avengers films, Disney+ features a variety of other TV shows and movies, including the Frozen and Star Wars franchises. You will need a monthly or annual subscription to stream any of the content though. You can buy one here.

Can’t I just watch Avengers: Endgame illegally for free?

You shouldn’t. Here are a few things to remember:

  • It’s poor quality. Unauthorised streaming often takes ages to buffer, will keep cutting out and is bad picture quality.
  • It risks your computer. All of those pop-ups aren’t doing your laptop much good.
  • It’s illegal. Film studios work hard to bring great entertainment to fans. Pay your bit, sit back and enjoy.
