What is Testing For All?

Testing For All is a nonprofit organisation founded during the pandemic. It markets itself as bringing accessible and affordable testing to everyone in the UK, and is on the government’s list of private COVID test providers, which means it meets minimum standards for safety and performance.

What types of COVID-19 tests can I get from Testing For All?

You can get lateral flow and PCR tests from Testing For All. This includes PCRs for day 2, a PCR day 2 and day 8 package, day 5 PCR tests (under the Test to Release scheme – only in England), and fit to fly PCR and lateral flow (antigen) tests. A nifty little extra is that you can get a COVID antibody tracker which can be used to detect previous exposure to the virus.

Testing For All customer reviews

Overall, Testing For All has received great reviews on Trustpilot. Out of 5,000+ reviews (as at November 2021), 80% rated it “Excellent”, resulting in a score of 4.5 stars out of 5. Pretty good.

Recent reviews have praised the promptness of the tests arriving, simple instructions, easy-to-navigate website and speed of getting results.

That said, there are some negative experiences where reviewers have complained about not receiving the tests on time and some claiming that they were “forgot about”.

There is a customer helpline – 020 33011100 – and a chat function on the website. The helpline hours stated are Monday-Thursday 9am-6pm, and Friday-Sundays 9am-5pm. However, when we called the helpline during these hours in early December 2021, a recorded message told us to send an email instead.

Are Testing For All tests accurate?

Information on the accuracy of Testing For All’s tests is not readily available.

All COVID-19 test providers listed on the UK government website have to have “demonstrated compliance with the applicable minimum standards” and at least be going through the 3-stage accreditation by the United Kingdom Accreditation Service (UKAS), the government-appointed accreditation body.

But remember, no COVID-19 test is 100% accurate, even those that meet official standards for performance and safety.

How long does it take to get results from Testing For All?

For day 2 PCR tests, Testing For All says that if you use the Royal Mail Tracked 24 returns label in the kit, nearly half of samples arrive the next working day, but a few can take up to 5 days to arrive. They’re “typically” processed within 48 hours of reaching the lab and results are released immediately.

What is Testing For All’s refund policy?

The refund policy says that you can cancel your order and get a full refund providing the test kit hasn’t been shipped yet. Once the order has been dispatched, you can cancel up to 14 days from when the order is delivered and you’ll get a partial refund as long as you haven’t sent off your PCR sample or, in the case of a lateral flow test, used it.

How much do Testing For All tests cost?

A day 2 PCR test costs £48, including shipping and returning the sample. The day 2 and 8 package is £89. A fit to fly lateral flow unsupervised home test is £19 and a video-call supervised one is £29. Full tests and prices are in our table, above.

Pros and cons of Testing For All

Pros

  • Straightforward process of ordering and usage
  • Flexible refund options
  • Quick delivery and turnaround promised
  • Generally good customer reviews
  • Easy-to-use website

Cons

  • More expensive than other providers
  • Can’t do the test at the airport
  • Some cases of errant delivery
  • No answer on the customer helpline when we called

Our verdict: Is Testing For All any good?

Testing For All has had pretty positive customer reviews and the process of ordering and submitting samples seems straightforward, with flexible refund options. The website is clear and there are videos to help.

The tests aren’t the cheapest ones around, and there have been reviews bashing the delivery service, but overall the service seems like a good one to consider.
