Asana is a collaborative task-management system designed to help increase workplace productivity. Employees sign up using their email addresses and once logged in, can create, manage and complete tasks based on team timelines and due dates.

The software seeks to reduce daily meetings and email volume by organising company-wide projects and tasks within a single online system. Asana also offers a mobile version of its software, available as an app for iPhones, iPads and Android devices.

Asana pricing and fees

Asana’s Basic service plan is available for free, but is limited to 15 users. The Premium, Business and Enterprise plans all come at a monthly or annual cost, but offer access to Asana’s deeper core features. You can try the Premium and Business plans for free for 30 days by signing up for a trial.

Asana’s features

At the core of Asana’s software is the task system, allowing you to break work projects up into bite-sized pieces to assign to team members. Most of Asana’s additional features are designed to support, organise and automate tasks with custom fields, forms, templates, privacy settings and more.

  • Workload. Manage your team’s workload by assigning hour or point values to tasks, reviewing who’s doing what and reassigning tasks to prevent burnout.

Get started with Asana by heading to its website:

  1. On Asana’s website, click Try with my team for free.
  2. Enter your email address and click Try for free.
  3. Verify your email address by clicking the link from Asana sent to your inbox.
  4. Enter your full name and create a password. Click Continue.
  5. Tell Asana more about your work goals and industry. Click Continue.
  6. Enter the email addresses of teammates you’d like to add to your workspace. Click Continue.
  7. Finally, you’ll be asked to select your plan. While you won’t be billed upfront, you’ll be asked to submit your payment information. You can also opt to skip this step and simply use Asana’s Basic free service plan.
