What is LetsGetChecked?
Launched in the US in 2017, LetsGetChecked is now based in the US and in Ireland. It enables you to order health and wellness testing kits online to be delivered to your home. It offers a range of tests covering sexual health, women’s health, men’s health, wellness and coronavirus. It’s done over 2.3 million tests so far across Ireland, Canada the US and UK. The company currently has a $1b valuation. LetsGetChecked is currently on the UK government’s list of private providers for COVID testing, meaning it meets minimum standards for safety and performance.
What types of COVID tests can I get from LetsGetChecked?
You can get a COVID pre-flight “fit to fly” test and lab report from LetsGetChecked. This specific test works for departure from the UK, so it’s worth checking if it matches the most up-to-date specific requirements for the country that you’re travelling to.
The test uses PCR (polymerase chain reaction) or TMA (transcription mediated amplification) analysis. They both use the same scientific methods to detect the virus, but the TMA test is usually easier, cheaper and faster for the lab to process. PCR is the most commonly accepted type of test, so be sure your destination country and airline are accepting both before you order with LetsGetChecked, as it can’t guarantee which one you’ll receive.
The company encourages you to order online 5+ days before your flight as it takes 24-48 hours for the test to arrive, then once it arrives, you activate the test online, take a nasal sample and return it.
What is LetsGetChecked’s refund policy?
No refunds will be issued once the order has been processed.
LetsGetChecked customer reviews
On the reviews site Trustpilot, the company has a score of 4.5 out of 5, with over 11,000 reviews to date (last updated October 2021). Customers praised the speed of delivery, ease of use and customer service.
The main negatives emerging from the LetsGetChecked reviews were delays in the kit arriving and delays in the results coming back, but these complaints were in the minority.
Are LetsGetChecked COVID-19 tests accurate?
LetsGetChecked says its samples are processed by labs that are used by primary care providers, hospitals and government schemes, and sample collection kits are manufactured in a facility accredited to ISO 13485 – a quality standard covering medical devices. LetsGetChecked is on the government list of COVID test providers, so meets the minimum standards for tests of its type.
How long does it take to get results from LetsGetChecked?
Once the lab has received your test, the company says it will take 24-72 hours for your results to be sent back to you. It provides SMS and email updates every step of the way. Once you get your results, you can then download the lab report for proof to fly.
How much do LetsGetChecked COVID-19 tests cost?
The pre-flight test costs £55 with the Finder discount (£79 without).
There are bulk testing deals available for organisations – drop the company a message via the site to discuss pricing.
