Get a discount on your Danske Bank personal loan interest rate if you’re a Danske Freedom, Choice Plus or Prestige current account holder.
A subsidiary of its Danish namesake, Danske Bank is a local bank active in Northern Ireland. It was founded there in 1809 as Northern Bank, took the name of its parent company in 2012 and currently has a network of 40 branches across the region.
Danske Bank offers fee-free personal loans to both old and new customers. However, Freedom, Choice Plus and Prestige customers are entitled to a discount on the interest rate of their loans. Spread over multiple years, that little reduced percentage can amount to a significant figure, especially if you’re borrowing a considerable amount.
Danske Choice Plus and Prestige accounts are no longer available to new customers, but you can still get a Freedom current account if you’re aged between 18 and 27.
Aside from the discount, Danske Bank’s personal loan makes a solid and flexible product thanks to the possibility of overpaying without incurring extra charges and of getting funds on the very same day you’re approved if you apply in branch. As with most banks, you may be able to borrow up to £25,000.

How do I apply?
If you already are a Choice Plus, Prestige or Freedom customer, you can apply directly online by logging in to your personal online banking. If you have one of those accounts, but have never used online banking before, you can register for it by submitting an online form available on Danske Bank’s website.
If you want to apply for a Freedom current account first instead, you can still do an online application and Danske Bank will then contact you with the details.
In both cases, you can also pop into a branch and handle the application in person. It may take a little longer but you can ask the staff any questions you may have and you may also be able to get same-day funding if the application for your personal loan is approved.
When you apply, you’ll be asked about your annual income, financial situation and repayments you’re making for other loans. If you’re an existing customer, proof of identity and address may not be necessary if Danske Bank already has copies of them.
We show offers we can track - that's not every product on the market...yet. Unless we've said otherwise, products are in no particular order. The terms "best", "top", "cheap" (and variations of these) aren't ratings, though we always explain what's great about a product when we highlight it. This is subject to our terms of use. When you make major financial decisions, consider getting independent financial advice. Always consider your own circumstances when you compare products so you get what's right for you.
