How well did the best known mattress and bedding brands do in our customer survey? We reveal the winner and those in close contention.

Welcome to the Finder Retail Awards 2022: Best Mattress & Bedding Brand

A solid mattress is the bedrock of a good sleep. There are many different kinds: memory foam, pocket sprung, gel, orthopedic… the list goes on. In our survey, customers rated their duvets, mattresses and pillows from well-known manufacturers.

There are many mattress and bedding providers on the market, so we think it’s important you get the opinion of the people who matter most: the customers who’ve used their products. We asked customers of the major mattress and bedding brands to tell us about their experiences.

Our awards are designed to find the mattress and bedding brands that excel in 5 categories: value for money, reliability, performance, customer satisfaction and whether they’re worth a recommendation to a friend. The winner had the highest average score on all these categories combined. Let’s see who sprung to top spot.

Best Mattress & Bedding Brand Winner:

Tempur has definitely not been asleep, as it has claimed the win in this retail category. The American company got 4.5 stars out of 5 as an overall customer score, and blew away the competition with 92% of customers saying they’d recommend its products to a friend.

Tempur was founded in 1992 and makes mattresses, pillows, beds and sofa beds. You can try one of its mattresses for 100 nights, and if you aren’t satisfied, you can return it. Its mattresses range from soft to firm, with different depths and sizes.

Customer star ratings methodology

In June 2022, we ran a customer survey about well-known mattress and bedding brands. 1,291 people responded and gave us their opinion on duvets, pillows and mattresses, which they had purchased in the last 2 years.

The survey asked respondents about their experience with the product they owned and used. They were asked if they found their mattress and bedding product to be value for money, if it was reliable, if it performed well and if they were satisfied with their overall experience of it (using a 1–5 rating). They were also asked if they would recommend the brand to a friend.

We converted the responses into overall customer score star ratings and used these results to decide our award winner. Where there was a draw in terms of star ratings, we used the recommendation score (the percentage of customers who said they would recommend the brand to a friend) as a tie-breaker.

Full details of how we calculated star ratings for this sector are on our methodology for retail brand customer ratings page.

We show offers we can track - that's not every product on the market...yet. Unless we've said otherwise, products are in no particular order. The terms "best", "top", "cheap" (and variations of these) aren't ratings, though we always explain what's great about a product when we highlight it. This is subject to our terms of use. When you make major financial decisions, consider getting independent financial advice. Always consider your own circumstances when you compare products so you get what's right for you.
