Business card provider gets e-money licence.

Expense management platform Payhawk has been granted a licence to issue electronic money by the UK’s financial regulator, meaning it can expand its services or innovate existing ones.

The new licence will allow Payhawk to directly issue electronic money, facilitate digital payments, and provide more card issuing and payment services to new and existing UK customers.

The company already offers credit and debit cards with smart spending controls to UK businesses, as well as expense and invoice management services, plus accounting software integrations.

Hristo Borisov, CEO and co-founder of Payhawk, said that the new UK licence “unlocks new possibilities for us” but did not reveal what specific changes might follow.
