World of Hyatt has one of the strongest average point values when redeeming on hotel stays. Points + Cash

You can choose to split the cost of your room between points and cash if you want to save on either. The price for reserving this way is simply 50% of the cost in points and 50% in cash.

All-inclusive resorts and Miraval Resorts

In addition to Hyatt hotels, you can also redeem for free nights at Hyatt and Miraval resorts. You can split the cost between points and cash for Miraval resorts, though not for Hyatt resorts. Also, when you redeem points for stays at Miraval resorts, you get a $175 resort credit per person, gourmet cuisine, freshly prepared snacks and beverages, and complimentary wellness activities, lectures, fitness classes and more.

Transfer World of Hyatt points to airline miles

You can transfer your World of Hyatt points to airline miles at a ratio of 2.5 points for 1 mile. You need to convert a minimum of 5,000 points to get started and can convert additional points in 1,250 increments.

For every 50,000 points you convert to a partnered airline mile, Hyatt will provide an extra 5,000 bonus miles on your partnered account.

Is it worth converting World of Hyatt points to airline miles?

The only scenario where converting World of Hyatt points to airline miles makes sense is if you never intend to redeem your points for World of Hyatt stays.

Otherwise, avoid transferring points to miles. That’s because you’ll be converting a value of 4.25 cents per World of Hyatt point to get an average value of 1.3 cents per airline mile. Definitely not worth the trade.

How to redeem points for maximum value

Book free nights at Hyatt hotels

Generally speaking, the category of the hotel dictates the luxuries, location and overall value of the hotel. We found Hyatt points always pull a strong value, averaging around 1.7 cents per point, no matter which hotel you choose.

Research your options across the reward categories to find your sweet spot for points versus category.

Room upgrades

You can upgrade your booked rooms starting at 3,000 points and topping out at 9,000 points depending on the upgrade.

Room Upgrade Award Points Per Night
Regency Club/Grand Club Upgrade 3,000
Suite Upgrade 6,000
Premium Suite Upgrade 9,000

Data obtained August 2020. Values are subject to change and should be used only as a general guide.

The average value of points spent this way averages at 1.7 cents per point. This makes it a strong option if you want to boost your comfort level during your stay.

Book an all-inclusive resort stay

If you’re looking for more than just a hotel stay, Hyatt’s all-inclusive resorts offer a more luxurious stay at one of their resort properties.

Your points will be worth less on average compared to a free night stay at a Hyatt hotel. They still hold solid value, however, and outstrip the potential value of your other available redemption options, such as spa or restaurant experiences.
