The Venture X is a travel card from Capital One and the first luxury travel card offered by the provider. It earns 10x miles on hotel and rental car purchases booked through Capital One Travel, a flat 2x miles on all purchases and 5x miles on flights booked through Capital One Travel. Until May 16, 2023, the card also earns 10X miles when booking through the Turo app or on Turo.com. The card also comes with a 18.49% – 25.49% variable APR, a welcome offer of 75,000 bonus miles after you spend $4,000 on purchases within your first 3 months of account opening, and a bevy of travel perks to help offset the card’s $395 annual fee.
When you look at the Venture X against Capital One’s other travel card options, the Venture X stands in a league of its own. It earns comparable flat miles to the Venture Rewards, but offers additional earning categories as well as additional perks you won’t find on the Venture.
The card offers a $300 annual credit for bookings made on Capital One Travel for example and also offers a 10,000 mile bonus each account anniversary. The card also offers access to Capital One Lounges and Priority Pass membership as well as a $100 credit toward TSA PreCheck or Global Entry every four years.
As long as you’re traveling reliably and booking through Capital One, this card pays for itself each year with hardly any effort. The question then is how does the Venture X stand against the other luxury cards on the market? The Venture X seems to play it on the safe side: technically speaking, every luxury travel card on the market can pay for itself through perks, so it comes down to how easily you can pay off that annual fee and how much you enjoy those specific perks.
There’s no question that the Chase Sapphire Reserve® and The Platinum Card® from American Express both offer more perks than the Venture X, but the Venture X is much less expensive and much easier to pay off through light travel. Capital One also has its own collection of travel partners that you can transfer points to, though not all transfer partners allow a 1:1 ratio.
On the whole, the Venture X is a terrific and much-needed addition to the Capital One travel lineup, allowing it to compete on the luxury travel market while offering additional value to consumers.
Apply for the Venture X by doing the following.
If this card isn’t right for you, compare other travel cards on the market. Consider factors such as a card’s annual fee, APR and what travel benefits you’ll use most. Select up to four credit cards in the table, and click Compare to see their features side-by-side.
The Venture X is new to the market and it’ll take some time before customers get their hands on this piece of plastic and run it through its paces. Capital One is however listed on Better Business Bureau and Trustpilot, both of which rate an organization based on customer experience and reviews.
PROVIDER | BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU | TRUSTPILOT |

Capital One | A | 1.3 |
Capital One’s Venture X is an excellent addition to Capital One’s travel lineup and in combination with changes to the provider’s travel partner transfer ratios seems to point toward a greater focus on travel benefits for its customers.
It offers the level of value you’d expect from a luxury travel card offering while maintaining a lower annual fee than its competitors. That makes this a great card for those who travel often but don’t necessarily feel compelled to push the limits of a card’s perks. But if this card doesn’t quite hit the mark for your needs, compare your travel card options to find one that best fits.
