If you need a credit card for a vacation abroad, Capital One is an excellent option. On top of charging no foreign transaction fees, most of the provider’s products offer solid, reliable rewards.
None of Capital One’s cards have foreign transaction fees — even the nontravel products.
While it’s typical for travel cards to have no foreign transaction fees, it’s relatively unusual for other types of cards. Providers generally charge 3% of the purchase amount for a foreign transaction. Capital One waives this fee for all its products.

For a Capital One card, you’ll typically pay no annual fee — or a $0 annual fee for the first year and $95 a year thereafter.
Annual-fee cards typically offer stronger rewards and larger signup bonuses.
Capital One’s Savor cards have tiered rewards. You’ll earn the most rewards on dining and entertainment, as well as solid rewards at grocery stores. If these categories are your bread and butter, the cards might be perfect for you.
Most of the other cards offer flat-rate rewards, meaning you’ll earn the same rewards rate on each purchase. This can be helpful if you spend evenly across many categories or don’t want to deal with reward tiers.
You’ll find stronger signup bonuses with cards that charge an annual fee. With an extra boost of miles or cash back, a card could pay for itself a few times over.
Capital One offers solid signup bonuses for its no-annual-fee cards as well. Exceptions mostly include credit-building products such as the provider’s secured card.
When you compare cards on the Capital One website, you can view the provider’s recommended credit level for applicants. These are Excellent, Average and Rebuilding.
Capital One doesn’t give exact credit-score ranges. However, applicants typically have better approval odds with a good to an excellent score of 670 and above.
It’s unusual for a credit card to charge no foreign transaction fees. But for news for customers it means you can earn rewards and spend on your travels abroad without fees.
