Expert review

The BMW World Mastercard® is an entry-level BMW World Mastercard®. Thanks to a change in its issuing bank, the card now offers a new suite of benefits and rewards. For no annual fee, you’ll earn 4x points on eligible BMW purchases, 3x points at eligible gas stations, 2x at restaurants and 1x on everything else.

This card also offers a signup bonus of 5,000 points after you spend $500 within your first 3 months of account opening, and a 0% intro APR on purchases and balance transfers for 12 billing cycles, reverting to 15.24% to 24.24%.

Like the BMW Precision Credit Card, the BMW Credit Card offers fairly solid earning capabilities within its categories. In fact, it offers the same gas station and restaurant earning rates as the BMW Precision Credit Card, only coming in short on BMW purchases and non-category purchases.

As with the BMW Precision Credit Card, these points are worth 1 cent apiece except when redeemed on BMW gift cards, leading to a 25% point bonus. In a vacuum, the BMW World Mastercard® is off to a good start.

Bottom line

The BMW World Mastercard® is a little less enticing than the BMW Precision Credit Card. While you won’t pay an annual fee for the BMW Credit Card, it’s a relatively lackluster choice considering it doesn’t earn 1.5x points on non-category purchases like the BMW Precision World Elite Mastercard® does. Even if you’re a BMW fan, you might be better off comparing more valuable reward cards out there.
