Churchill is a UK insurer that has been offering competitive policies since 1989. It began by offering car insurance, then home insurance, before branching out to travel insurance and a few other products.

We’ve looked at what Churchill travel insurance includes and the pros and cons of cover.

What types of policies are on offer?

There are three types of travel insurance policy on offer from Churchill:

• Single trip travel insurance. Cover for your individual trip.
• Annual travel insurance. Cover for you and up to five other people for a whole year. You don’t even need to travel together.
• Explorer (long-stay) travel insurance. A policy lasting between 90 days and 12 months (for Europe) or 18 months (worldwide).

Cover limits

Among other things, you’ll be covered for:

• Emergency medical treatment up to £10,000,000
• Flight cancellations up to £5,000
• Personal possessions up to £2,000
• Legal expenses up to £50,000
• Personal liability up to £2,000,000

Claims process

To make a claim, visit the Churchill website or call 0345 603 3591.

In the case of lost, stolen or damaged belongings, you’ll need to inform the police and get a police report before making the claim (within 24 hours of the incident occuring).

For all claims, you’ll need to keep a copy of all paperwork, including hospital admission records, travel documents and booking invoices.
