OppLoans offers short term loans as well as longer term personal loans to qualifying borrowers.

OppLoans is an American lender that distinguishes itself as being different from payday lenders by offering longer term instalment loans.

Although OppLoans does not operate in the UK, luckily, there’s a number of similar lenders that you can opt for instead. Although, these lenders offer short term loans ranging from just a few hundred pounds going up to £1,000, these loans can be useful if you have unexpected bills or car repairs that have caught you off guard.

A short-term payday loan can help bridge the gap, though it’s important to keep in mind that these loans are a lot more expensive than mainstream sources of credit.

Our tool at the end of the page, allows you to compare the cost of payday or short term loans from multiple lenders.

Warning: Late repayment can cause you serious money problems. For help, go to moneyhelper.org.uk.

Please note: High-cost short-term credit is unsuitable for sustained borrowing over long periods and would be expensive as a means of longer-term borrowing.

What’s the difference between payday and instalment loans?

Payday loans are typically paid in one lump sum on the day that you you receive your paycheck, and is why the term payday loan was coined.

An instalment loan is typically repaid in monthly or weekly instalments. The interest rates can still be very high, and it’s important to remember that borrowing over a longer term generally costs more.
