You don’t have to be an elite in a hotel program to get high-class perks. Book a stay at a property in a luxury hotel collection, and you could receive benefits such as daily breakfast, late checkout and room upgrades.
What luxury hotel and resort collections are available and what are the perks?
Luxury hotel collections are a curated set of properties that can be booked only by people with certain credit cards. There are four major luxury hotel collections offered by credit card companies.
The Luxury Hotel & Resort Collection
This is a portfolio of over 900 properties that’s curated by Chase. When you book a stay at a qualifying property with an eligible card, you’ll get perks such as:
Daily breakfast for two.
Special property benefits.
Complimentary Wi-Fi.
Room upgrades upon availability.
Early check-in and late checkout upon availability.
Enter a check-in and checkout date. Then click Find rooms.
You’ll see a popup that asks you to enter the first six digits of your Chase card. Enter these numbers and click Continue.
If your card is valid, the page will refresh and you’ll see a list of available rooms.
Visa Luxury Hotel Collection
The Visa Luxury Hotel Collection has over 900 hotels globally. You can book one of its hotels if you have a Visa Platinum, Visa Signature or Visa Infinite card.
When you book a hotel in the collection, you’ll receive these perks:
Best available rate guarantee.
VIP guest status, which comes with different privileges depending on the property.
Complimentary in-room Wi-Fi, when available.
Complimentary daily continental breakfast for two.
Automatic room upgrade upon arrival, when available.
Checkout at 3 p.m. upon request, when available.
$25 food or beverage credit.
The Hotel Collection from American Express
The Hotel Collection is available to those who have one of these cards:
Amex’s Fine Hotels & Resorts (FHR) is an even more exclusive portfolio of properties than The Hotel Collection. You must have The Platinum Card® from American Express or Centurion® Card from American Express and book through it.
Book a stay of any length at an FHR property and you’ll get:
Room upgrade at check-in, upon availability.
Daily breakfast for two.
Guaranteed late check-out at 4 p.m.
Noon check-in, upon availability.
Complimentary Wi-Fi.
An amenity unique to the property — for example, a spa credit or food and beverage credit.

What properties will I find in a luxury hotel collection?
Each luxury hotel collection will include properties from around the world. Typically, you’ll see just a few properties per location. Here’s a taste of the resorts you may have access to:
Park Hyatt Bangkok
Four Seasons Resort Hualalai
Waldorf Astoria Amsterdam
How can I use luxury hotel collection perks?
If you’re booking a stay at an Amex Hotel Collection property, you’ll need a minimum stay of two nights to qualify for luxury perks. There are no minimums for the other luxury hotel collections mentioned.
Membership Rewards Points
When booking through the Amex Hotel Collection or Fine Hotels & Resorts, consider making a prepaid booking with your The Platinum Card® from American Express or Centurion® Card from American Express. This way, you’ll earn five Membership Rewards points per dollar spent instead of 1x points.
Using luxury hotel collection benefits
After you’ve booked your stay with an eligible credit card, check the terms of your luxury hotel program’s benefits.
You’ll receive some of your benefits when you check in. For example, you may receive an automatic room upgrade or a welcome gift.
Other benefits may not be automatic. If you want late checkout, you may need to call the front desk and ask for it, for example. Similarly, remember to use your daily breakfast perk if you have it, and to spend on eligible purchases if you have credits for them.
Who gets to use luxury hotel and resort perks?
Technically, these perks go to the cardholder who books the reservation. But those on the same reservation can benefit from many of these benefits — for example, complimentary Wi-Fi, late checkout and potentially the resort credits and daily breakfast.
Bottom line
Booking through a luxury hotel collection is a great way to access luxury perks, especially if you don’t have elite status in a hotel program.
Select travel credit cards will make you eligible to book properties in luxury hotel collections. You can compare travel credit cards to find one that’s right for you.
