Delta SkyMiles® Gold American Express Card vs. Delta SkyMiles® Platinum American Express Card

Both cards are fine choices if you often fly Delta.

Updated

Fact checked

Pick the Delta SkyMiles® Gold American Express Card if you want Delta perks — such as priority boarding and your first checked bag free per flight — for a $99 ongoing annual fee after the first-year intro. Go with the $250-annual-fee Delta SkyMiles® Platinum American Express Card if you want those benefits in addition to Status Boost and an annual Domestic Main Cabin round-trip companion certificate.

As of January 30, 2020, the cards have diverged further: The lower-priced option offers a $100 Delta Flight Credit after you spend $10,000 in a calendar year, and the other will offer 3x miles on hotel stays and Delta spending.
