How to compare credit cards with great customer service

Once you decide on a card provider with the best customer service, ask the following:

  • Do you want to build credit? There are a few ways to build credit if you’re just starting out, or if you’ve had financial difficulties in the past. For example, apply for a secured or a student card and eventually build credit and apply for better cards later.
  • Do you want to earn rewards? Most credit cards for good credit score or higher offer rewards in the form of cash back or reward points. Depending on your needs, consider where you spend most of your money and apply for a card with accelerated rewards on those categories.
  • Do you need to save money on interest? Most cashback credit cards come with a long intro APR period on balance transfers and purchases. If that’s what you need, consider one of these cards.
