Consider the American Airlines shopping program if you’re a frequent flyer looking to easily earn more miles. Using the program with any credit card, you can earn miles on purchases such as clothing, shoes, jewelry, electronics, tools and more. Also, if you use an AAdvantage credit card, you can earn an additional mile per dollar.

How does the American Airlines shopping program work?

Let’s say you want to buy a new iPhone. Simply log in to your American Airlines shopping account and search for Apple in the search bar. You’ll see how many miles per dollar you can earn if the Apple store has an ongoing promotion. You’ll also see any available additional offers.

Go to the Apple store through the American Airlines link to earn miles for your purchases. The number of miles you earn depends on the store but can be anywhere from 1x miles per dollar up to 30x miles per dollar. Some stores offer up to 3,000 miles for eligible purchases.

How to use American Airlines shopping program

First, you need to have an AAdvantage account to sign up for the program. Once you do:

  1. Go to the American Airlines shopping website.
  2. Sign up with your AAdvantage number, your email, full name and zip code.
  3. Log in to your American Airlines shopping account.
  4. Start shopping either by choosing categories, deals or stores through the SkyMiles shopping website.

How credit cards can help you earn miles with the American Airlines shopping program

You can earn miles with the American Airlines shopping program using any credit card. However, you earn an additional mile per dollar spent if you use an AAdvantage credit card.

Alternatively, you can use other rewards credit cards, such as the Marriott cards. With every purchase you make, you earn points, which you can transfer to AAdvantage miles.
