6 reasons why you’ll want the Luxury Card Mastercard® Black Card™

Because your time is priceless.

This article is sponsored by Luxury Card, a leader in premium credit cards with a mission to shape the industry through innovation, value and service — and help cardholders travel in style.

If you’re a regular jet-setter with hardly a spare moment to your name, you know the strains of airport travel, waiting in lines, dealing with busy terminals, booking hotels and the other necessities that cut into your time.

But here’s a little secret: Picking up a luxury travel card is the best hack for making traveling more comfortable and less of a burden on your busy schedule.

The Luxury Card Mastercard® Black Card™ is a terrific option for soothing your travel woes and traveling in style. Best of all, the card’s $495 annual fee will pay for itself so long as you use it to do the thing it was designed for — save yourself time. Here are six reasons you’ll want to add this travel card to your wallet.

1. A complimentary Global Entry and TSA PreCheck application credit ($100 value)

Global Entry and TSA PreCheck are a staple of any traveler looking to move through airport waiting lines as fast as possible. With the Luxury Card Mastercard® Black Card™, you’ll enjoy a $100 statement credit for your Global Entry application fee. The fee itself is $100, so it completely cancels out the cost of applying and subsequent renewals.

This statement credit only applies to Global Entry application fees, which sounds a bit limited at first glance. But Global Entry members are automatically eligible for TSA PreCheck at no extra cost. It’s like getting two memberships for the price of one.

This statement credit refreshes itself every five years, which lines up perfectly with the length of Global Entry membership. So long as you have your card, your Global Entry fee will always be covered.

2. Priority Pass Select access ($429 value)

If you’re looking for an escape from the typical hustle and bustle of the airport, you’ll love the complimentary Priority Pass access.

Priority Pass is a collection of more than 1,300 airport lounges all over the world, with more than 100 dotted across the US. You’ll find a number of amenities in these lounges, ranging from complimentary food and drink, to free Wi-Fi and even showers.

Priority Pass Select is the travel credit card membership offered by Priority Pass, which gives you unlimited lounge visits so long as you own the Luxury Card Mastercard® Black Card™ — not a guarantee on all premium credit cards with this feature. What’s more, Priority Pass Select through Luxury Card doesn’t have a hard cap on the number of guests you can bring with you — you’re only limited by the occupancy of the lounge at the time of your visit. And your guests don’t have to be related to you to bring them along. Other premium travel cards lack this feature, and typically cap your allowable guests per visit.

If you were to actually pay out of pocket for similar unlimited Priority Pass access, it would run you $429 as of May 2021, not counting the additional cost of guest passes. That gives the complimentary pass an unmatched value and nearly makes up for the annual fee of the Luxury Card Mastercard® Black Card™ — provided you travel and stay at those eligible lounges. And if the airport you’re visiting doesn’t have a Priority Pass lounge, don’t worry — you might still have access to Priority Pass-designated restaurants for up to $28 off your bill, or $56 if you bring a guest.

3. Airfare travel credit each year ($100 value)

Make an eligible airline purchase and Luxury Card will automatically apply a statement credit of up to $100 to your account each year. This can include purchases such as airline tickets, upgrades or various airline fees.

This credit isn’t limited to a specific airline, making it quite flexible compared to some other travel credit cards on the market. And best of all, you don’t have to lift a finger to redeem this credit.

4. Access to the excellent Luxury Card Concierge service

When Finder compared various credit card concierge services over several tests, the outcome was almost always the same: Luxury Card far and away offered the best service.

But what can your Luxury Card Concierge service do for you? Quite a bit, as it turns out, including:

  • Put together a travel itinerary
  • Research and book flights to your next destination
  • Book a table at a fine dining restaurant
  • See if your favorite brand of wine is in stock at your closest liquor store
  • Make arrangements for large groups
  • Find a safe playground, gym or running trail near your lodging
  • Help you find the best price or availability of a high-demand product
  • Update you on travel protocols in this post-COVID-19 world
  • And so much more…

Unlike other card concierge services, you can chat with Luxury Card Concierge directly through the Concierge app without having to waste time doing back-and-forth phone calls or emails.

Most importantly, the Luxury Card Concierge is a key service in letting you reclaim your time during your busy travels. You don’t pay to use the service, and you don’t even need to end up going with their suggestion. It’s simply there to make your life easier — period.

And one final perk of the Luxury Card Concierge service? Hotels, restaurants, taxi services and more all see when a concierge books your reservation. It’s not uncommon to see a significant difference in treatment and service when you compare using an online booking website to having your reservation done through a professional travel agent like the Luxury Card Concierge team. These hotels and restaurants want to maintain a positive relationship with these agents, so it often reflects positively on you, the guest, when you arrive.

While it’s tough to put an exact dollar value on this service, try asking yourself, “How much is my time worth?”

5. Discounts at over 3,000 hotels worldwide ($500 average value per stay)

As part of your Luxury Card benefits, you’ll have access to discounts or benefits at thousands of hotels worldwide, curated by the travel experts from Luxury Card. You’ll find a full list of eligible hotels through Luxury Card’s travel site, which include top-rated hotels in traditionally sought-after destinations, such as the red rocks of Sedona, the mountains of Hokkaido and the beaches of Lahaina.

Here are just a few of the hotel brands Luxury Card works with:

Some of the perks you can expect when you book these hotels with your Luxury Card include:

  • Complimentary breakfast for two
  • Spa credits
  • Hotel credits
  • Welcome amenities
  • Access to hotel club lounges
  • Free Wi-Fi
  • And so much more…

The exact value of the perks offered ultimately depends on the hotel, but can reach hundreds of dollars depending on the length of your stay.

For example, as of June 2021, the Beverly Hills Hotel offers up to $75 in credits per room per day for your complimentary breakfast, a $100 spa credit per room per stay, room upgrades, early check in and late checkout depending on availability.

In this example, using your spa credit and maxing out your breakfast credit for just three days results in a $325 value. This is a majority of the card’s annual fee, just for booking a hotel through Luxury Card.

Here are even more hotels available through Luxury Card that offer resort credits and daily breakfast for two, as of June 2021. With all of these hotels, the average savings add up to around $500 based on a three-night stay — which pays for the annual fee itself!

6. Travel insurance ($250,000+ value)

The less you have to worry about during a trip, the better. Complimentary travel insurance is invaluable in the event the worst happens. And if regular travel is a part of your lifestyle, or your vacations typically run you upwards of $10,000, then travel insurance is going to be a great investment for your wallet, not to mention your peace of mind.

You’ll be covered in the event of loss of life or limb on up to $250,000, and get baggage delay insurance and trip cancellation insurance on up to $5,000. The card also offers auto rental collision waivers, which provides secondary coverage for covered damage to eligible rental vehicles when you pay for the rental using your Luxury Card Black Card.

Is the Luxury Card Mastercard® Black Card™ worth the annual fee?

Yes, especially if your time is your most valuable asset. The pure monetary value of the perks and benefits offered by the Luxury Card Black Card can more than pay for the annual fee.

And the time and hassle the concierge can save you at no additional cost can add hundreds more dollars of value to that bottom line. Add in the solid everyday rewards and you have a card that excellently supports your busy lifestyle by taking some of the weight off your shoulders.

But you have to make the card worth the annual fee. If you don’t travel very often, or if you forget to take advantage of the card’s perks, you won’t be able to make up for the $495 cost of the card.

If the annual fee is a tad too high, but you want to still get the same concierge service, exclusive access to the hotel and travel rewards program and have a stunning metal credit card, the Luxury Card Mastercard® Titanium Card™ is an alternative for less than half the price ($195).

The Titanium Card is still born of the same stuff as the Black Card: A unique and exclusive card designed for those on the move. Without that level of exclusivity, this card wouldn’t offer the same personalized care and value.

Who can get the card?

As a premium travel offering, the Luxury Card Mastercard® Black Card™ caters to consumers with a higher-than-average credit score. While you can certainly apply with a fair credit score, you’re most likely to get approved if you have at least a good credit score on the high end of things — think in the range of at least 700 to be considered.

Your typical Luxury Card Mastercard® Black Card™ cardholder is someone who books frequent flights to see family, takes vacations, spends extra for luxuries, frequently travels for work and prefers staying at finer hotels.

Rather than crunching every little point, the ideal Luxury Card Mastercard® Black Card™ cardholder values time and is most interested in convenience instead of jumping through hoops with round-about point transfers. And because of this focus on time and simplicity, your typical Black Card cardholder is less interested in juggling multiple credit cards, and more interested in having one or two reliable cards that serve a majority of their needs, regardless of where they’re spending.

Bottom line

While the Luxury Card Mastercard® Black Card™ brings plenty of value to the table, there’s also a harder-to-quantify perk to the card: exclusivity. The metal build and sleek design of the card is something of a head-turner, and people are bound to ask questions when they see you pay with it at restaurants, bars and hotels. Who knows — maybe it’ll serve as an “in” for your next big opportunity?

If you’re looking for a way to inject a little panache into your travels, free up your precious time and enjoy some luxuries along the way, the Luxury Card Mastercard® Black Card™ is a great way to do just that. But before you apply, read our full review of the Black Card™ and consider your travel and spending habits to make sure you can make the most of it.
