How we picked our best cards

We compared all credit cards with perks and rewards on spending useful to couples. We selected the cards that had the best combination of these perks.

How to compare credit cards for couples

When looking to choose the best credit card for couples, here’s what to keep in mind:

  • Reward categories. Consider where you spend most of your money and aim for a credit card with accelerated rewards on that particular category. You can get cards with accelerated rewards on purchases made at supermarkets, gas stations, restaurants, or purchases made on dining and travel.
  • Intro APR period. If you’re renovating a home and want to make a large purchase, for example, look for a credit card with 0% intro APR period on purchases. This can help you pay off your balance long term without interest. If you already have credit card debt and you find it hard to pay it off, a card with a 0% intro APR period on balance transfers should be on the top of your list.
  • Annual fee. As a rule of thumb, the more the card costs, the more perks and benefits you get. If you can use the additional perks, then paying an annual fee should be worth it. But if you can’t afford to pay an annual fee, there are excellent no-annual-fee credit cards for couples.

Bottom line

Couples have excellent credit card options to choose from. You can get a card with rewards on travel, gas, dining and entertainment or you can earn rewards on groceries and streaming services.

But if you don’t think any of the cards above will work for your situation, compare other credit card options.
