Rewards-wise, Allegiant Air is an anomaly. While other airlines let you earn rewards by flying with them, Allegiant only lets you earn points with its cobranded credit card.
The card offers good rewards if you’re a frequent Allegiant flyer, and you can earn elevated points for eating out. If you only spend a little in either category, you might get more out of a general travel or a different cobranded card.
Because conditional approval is automated on the Bank of America website, you may get a decision on your application right away. If you’re approved, you’re likely to receive your card in the mail within seven to 10 days.
To access your points, log in to your myAllegiant account and link your Allegiant World Mastercard® Credit Card.
You can also access them by calling myAllegiant Member Services at 702-800-2088.
According to Allegiant, points are worth 1 cent each based on the dollar value of a flight. So if you redeem points for a $150 flight, you’ll need 15,000 points.
The Allegiant World Mastercard® Credit Card has a $59 annual fee, that isn’t waived for the first year.
Each myAllegiant point is worth 1 cent, according to Allegiant. That means you need to earn 5,900 points to break even on your annual fee.
Here’s an example of what you could spend to earn those points:
Category | Annual spending | Rewards rate | Points |
---|---|---|---|
Allegiant purchases | $400 | 3x | 1,200 |
Qualifying dining purchases | 1,000 | 2x | 2,000 |
Other purchases | $2,700 | 1x | 2,700 |
The Allegiant World Mastercard® Credit Card‘s annual fee may be worth paying if you can take advantage of Allegiant’s companion-flight deal on eligible vacation packages.
Here are a few Allegiant perks you could get and their example values:
Perk | Example Value |
---|---|
Round-trip companion flight for an eligible vacation package | $150 |
Priority boarding | $12 each way, $24 for a round-trip flight |
Beverage | $2 each way, $4 for a round-trip flight |
Values are subject to change and should be used only as a general guide.
You can apply for the Allegiant World Mastercard® Credit Card if you’re at least 18 years old. If you’re a permanent resident of Puerto Rico, you must be at least 21 years old.
Consider applying if you have a good to excellent credit score of 670 or higher.
Bank of America earned a Trustpilot score of 1.3 out of 5 at the time of this writing. Most negative reviews cite unhelpful customer support. Positive reviews often point to the bank’s easy-to-use website.
Bank of America also earns an A+ rating from the Better Business Bureau as of October 2020 and has been accredited since 1949.
The myAllegiant program is unique in that you can only earn its points through the Allegiant World Mastercard® Credit Card.
Though the value of your points is pegged to the dollar cost of each flight, you can earn decent rewards if you spend frequently on Allegiant flights or eating out. The card could also pay for itself if you leverage its companion-flight deal.
If you think you’ll use the card in different ways, consider a general travel card.
