Winners of the Finder Green Banking Awards 2023 announced
Finder’s inaugural Green Banking Awards recognise which UK banking brands are leading the way on sustainability.
Finder has today revealed the winners of its first Green Banking Awards.
The awards were created to cut through the greenwash and assess how sustainable different banks and building societies in the UK really are.
Our experts assessed the UK’s most popular banking brands across 3 key areas:
- Operational emissions. This represents the carbon footprint of a bank’s physical footprint including any branches it runs, vehicles it owns or offices it uses.
- Net zero targets. This shows us the ambition from the bank for making sustainability improvements in the future.
- Position on financing fossil fuels. This helps us understand whether the bank is financing major contributors to the climate crisis like the fossil fuel industry.
5 awards have been handed out to the winning and highly commended companies in the following categories:
Overall Green Bank of the Year

Green Digital Bank of the Year
Winner: Monzo
Highly commended: Starling Bank
Green High Street Bank of the Year
Winner: Nationwide
Highly commended: The Co-operative Bank
